NEW YORK (CNN) -- Benjamin Curtis, better known as the "Dell Dude" from the computer company's television commercials, was arrested Sunday while he allegedly attempted to buy marijuana on Manhattan's Lower East Side.

Curtis is in custody while awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Monday, said a spokesman for the Manhattan district attorney's office. The time of the arraignment has not yet been determined.

Curtis was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Sunday on the corner of Ludlow and Rivington streets and charged with criminal possession of marijuana when an officer observed him making the purchase, said a police spokesman.

Police said he was buying "a small bag" and was not being charged with intent to distribute.

Curtis' agent, Bonnie Schumofsky, refused to comment on the arrest.

Curtis, 22, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and is enrolled at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, according to Dell's Web site.

He gained national recognition as "Steven," a hip teenager who convinces his parents, his friends' parents and random people at the mall to buy computers from Dell.

The ad campaign was hugely successful for Dell, featuring Curtis' memorable catch phrase, "Dude, you're getting a Dell!"

Ludacris/Pepsi UPDATE!!!

The soft drink Giant Pepsi reached a verbal agreement with rapper Ludacris. The deal was brokered by mega-mogul Russell Simmons on the eve of a potential boycott. While the terms of the deal remain secret, it is reported that Pepsi will provide the Ludacris foundation with funds to help support the arts within the African American community.

Many have had mixed emotions about the Ludacris issue and his ability to promote a soft drink. Yet we maintain that if the company chooses to institute a benchmark standard of ethics, then all should adhere to it. Signing the Osbourne Family
makes their initial argument paper-thin. We need to look at the greater issue, which is to stop accepting the double standard treatment that's usually thrown our way.

Later this year Vivica returns to the big screen in the Quentin Tarentino movie Kill Bill.

Remember Actress Jackee’ Harry. She played the voluptuous Sandra on the show 227, she also starred on the show Sister, Sister. Well Jackee’ has filed for divorce from her husband of six years Hair Stylist Elgin Williams. When Jackee married him the wedding cost 500 thousand dollars. In a statement she said they would remain friends but she was no longer happy and that there was no passion in their relationship.

Basketball star Jayson Williams has reached a settlement with the family of the limo driver who was shot and killed at his home. His recent murder trial was cancelled because an appeals court was considering dropping manslaughter charges against him.

Halle Berry is coming to TV. The Oscar winner will be teaming up with Oprah Winfrey to star in the movie ‘Their eyes were watching God’. The movie is based on the 1937 book by Zora Neal Hurston. The movie traces the life of a free spirited woman whose search for identity and happiness puts her at odds with those around her. Back in the late 90’s Halle and Oprah teamed up for the TV Movie ‘The Wedding’. In other Halle News I hear she skipped her Fathers funeral. Halles dad Jerome Berry died a coule of weeks ago. Instead of attending the funeral Halle went shopping with her husband Singer Eric Benet.

Erykah Badu has a new LP coming out next March called Worldwide Underground.

The upcoming album from raunchy raptress Lil Kim, “Ill Na Na 2,” will feature cameo performances by hip hop stars like N.O.R.E, Ludacris, Baby from Cash Money, Loon and Big Boi from Outkast. But the really unique collaboration will be Lil Kim and jazzy soul songstress Anita Baker!
