Chapter mascots
There is a discussion about this going on in Greek Life and both lady and oceanphi stated that they’d never heard of any A-Phi chapters with chapter mascots. Is this the norm, or are there chapters out there with chapter mascots?

Are you talking about mascots that are different from the traditional phi bear, ivy, or any of our symbols? We have "Claire the Love Bear" who we give to a sister each week who needs some extra love. Don't know if oceanphi mentioned that. But she's a bear. She comes out to a lot of our events and was one of the favorite items for the fraternities to try to steal for awhile. Good to see they got that out of their system.
You know, actually, our chapter has a thing with "Turtles". It's a game that some sisters invented awhile ago and it's a tradition that's been passed down. A couple of the girls got turtle tattoos with AF on the turtle. I don't think that counts as a chapter mascot though, just a game that we play.

Some chapter's of other org's have "chapter mascots" which is a different mascot than their inter/national official mascot. For example, if your chapter's mascot is the ladybug, that is totally different than our official Phi Bear.

Ah, gotcha.
I like our Phi Bear. It means I have teddy bears coming out the wazoo, but hey, it could be an ugly mascot.

I don't think that A. Phi has any chapter mascots... our Phi Bear is so cute, who would want to replace it?

Laura, there is a Build-a-Bear in Houston. Building our own Phi bear is on mine and my big's to do list. I love that place!

Build-A-Bear is really cool. I know there's one in the DC area as well as in Orlando.

Phi Bear will always be the offical mascot, but the IB chapter used to have unofficially the Panda Bear as a mascot. The Panda Bear was the mascot for the group of girls that got us chartered, so the really old school sisters (me being one of them) would give panda bears along with teddy bears.

They've been opening more and more build-a-bear workshops and we have them at most of our local malls now. My favorite thing is being able to record greetings in them. When my mom got hurt right before convention I built her a bear and recorded a message telling her how much I love her and miss her and mailed it to her since I couldn't go visit for her surgery. They are such a great way to tell people how much you care.
My favorite teddy bear of all time is the FAO Schwartz bear. I got one for each of my littles. They are so fluffy and soft.

You aren't old school. Yep, we don't use the panda bear now. I guess once the old school people left, they took the panda bear with them.

Honey, I personally know all the founders of our chapter. I am most certainly old school. I've accepted it, so should you! <sigh>
