Happy 250th Birthday, America! Happy Independence Day!

Two and a half centuries ago, on July 4th, 1776, a bold declaration forever changed the course of history.

Over the past 250 years, our nation has faced triumphs and trials alike. Through every challenge, generations of Americans have answered the call to build, defend, improve, and preserve the blessings of liberty.

Throughout those 250 years, fraternity and sorority members have answered the call to serve. They have worn our nation's uniform in every generation, led in government and business, advanced medicine and education, strengthened their local communities, and volunteered countless hours to improve the lives of others. Their contributions remind us that the values shared by Greeks (leadership, scholarship, service, friendship, and lifelong commitment) are also qualities that strengthen America itself.

This Independence Day, let us honor the legacy of those who came before us by embracing the responsibilities of citizenship, extending kindness to one another, and working together to ensure that the next 250 years are worthy of the first.

We wish everyone a safe, happy, and memorable Independence Day.

Happy 250th Birthday, America!

God Bless America!

Happy Independence Day!

Good words, John. Thank you for sharing!

What will future generations remember about this particular day?

For me, today's weather is going to be most memorable.

In addition, the World Cup being played throughout North America and the sudden burst of live Independence Day televised festivities with be recalled.

What do GreekChst members recall about their July 4th, 1976 Bicentennial festivities?

From 1976 I recall my classmate Deborah making her Bicentennial speech to our town's gathered audience in outdoor, humid 98* weather. In addition, our state used a contest-chosen special design for its Bicentennial license plates.

Beautifully written, John! You covered all the bases and wrote eloquently what many of us are thinking and feeling.

I’ll add my “HAPPY JULY 4th” as well!

Well Done, John! Hope your Independence Day was wonderful!

If anyone hasn't seen Young Washington yet, please do so! I haven't heard one criticism of it yet.

I was born in 1979 so I missed the 76…I was always kind of sad as a kid when I looked through the photo albums and old memorabilia.

Turns out, I get to the 250 and I do nothing but work all day!

Oh well. We had wonderful fireworks in town.
