More upsetting news from Arizona

Nancy Guthrie remains missing under suspicious circumstances. Her daughter Savannah Guthrie is a Today Show co host and a Pi Beta Phi alumna from the University of Arizona.

Savannah recently did a piece on returning to Tucson to visit her Alma mater, including the Pi Phi house and her mother’s home.

This is not looking good.

I've been watching the news coverage and I just cannot image what their family is going through as they wait for any news. I think what is so disturbing about this is it could be anyone's elderly parent. I can only pray that she is miraculously ok.

I cannot begin to imagine the pain involved with having one's mother disappear in such a way. My prayers are with Nancy Guthrie, that she would be found in good condition, and with Savannah Guthrie and her family.

I've been following this very sad story too, hoping and praying they find Savannah's mom.

I try to fathom how gut-wrenching this situation would be to live through, but I just cannot.

Who would do this to an 84 year old lady??? Why??? What could someone possibly hope to accomplish??? It's just so senseless.

A suspect was arrested in making a fake ransom demand.

According to the federal complaint, Derrick Callella allegedly sent a text message to both the daughter and son-in-law of Nancy on Wednesday that said, "Did you get the bitcoin were [sic] waiting on our end for the transaction."
The text messages were sent two days after a local Tucson media outlet received a ransom demand that listed a Bitcoin wallet address to receive the payment, according to the complaint.
They were also sent shortly after Nancy's children published a video online asking their mother's kidnappers to contact them, the complaint also noted.
Callella allegedly used an application to create a fake phone number to text the family, and the account was tracked to an email associated with him, according to the complaint.
He allegedly admitted to sending the text messages after being read his Miranda rights, according to the complaint.
