I'm not from there but you're an Alpha Phi too right? A good friend of mine lives in D.C. and was just home visiting. The alum chapter there contacted here to help bring a chapter to that campus. Has the choice already been made or is it still in the selection process?

Yes GW PanHellenic Council is expanding in the fall. Alpha Phi was the sorority chosen. Here's the article from the school newspaper:

News Brief: Panhellenic Council chooses new sorority

The Panhellenic Council chose the Alpha Phi sorority Friday to begin colonization on campus this fall, pending University approval of the chapter this week, said Alice Lingo, recruitment chair for the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority.

Panhellenic Council President Nini Khozeimeh said she will give her recommendation to the University Monday morning, and GW will most likely finalize the decision within the week.

The council voted to add a new sorority March 7 to offer more options to the GW community, Khozeimeh said. Alpha Sigma Alpha, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta and Alpha Xi Delta sororities also made presentations last week, but the Panhellenic Council accepted only Alpha Phi.

"We were looking for the most well-rounded (sorority) that would fit best in the GW community," Khozeimeh said.

Wow, that's great news to hear! I was just at GWU visiting one of my best friends who goes to school there, and the greek community is small but those who are in it are very proud! I hope it grows!

All too often we hear the sad news about a campus getting rid of the Greek system (SCU, Dartmouth)...and it's always great news to hear about one expanding!

I have many friends who are attending GWU, and one of them is a past president of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity!
