Social Probation
So, what does it mean if a sorority you pref'ed is now on social probation for "dirty rushing" you and others?

Best to ask someone in a leadership position in your chapter.

Makes sense but didn't get a bid from that chapter/sorority.

Sounds like she is a PNM, not a chapter member.
To the OP, do you know from a COMPLETELY reliable and OFFICIAL source that this is true? Because I am betting that you heard nothing but rank gossip from a know it all. Nothing more than a fake rumor being spread to stop PNMS from listing the chapter on their MRABA.

I'm not a member because it happened to me. You don't really think that I have nothing to do but seek out people who should know and post a question I have no interest in, do you? In fact, I'm asking here rather than reading Yik Yak or relying on a bunch of emotional college students -- who are out with their "bid buddies" right now.
A week of my life wasted, no bid, and after Bid Day ends the chapter is put on social probation for "dirty rushing." I don't know what that means or what it means for me.

You can't go 2 mixers. Big f'ing deal
You van still go to fraternity parties and other parties as an individual.
It doesn't mean you're going to be cloisteredin a nunnery.if the group u chose is yr choice overall, its NOT a big deal.

If you didn't get a bid to that chapter, it has absolutely no affect on you. Social probation for rush violations can be minimal for a minor violation. Maybe no swaps for a semester. The chapter will survive!

I am going to be rational for a moment. Are you upset because you did not get a bid from this chapter or upset because you did not receive a bid any where? I can understand being upset for the latter. If the chapter was put on probation for recruitment violations, it won't help you or hurt you because they will most likely not be able to recruit this semester. I am sure a call to your recruitment counselor could clear up the situation. She should be able to answer your questions and give you the best advice. She knows your campus and your situation better than we do. I am sorry I can't be of more help but I don't know enough specifics to give you good advice.

Is social probation for recruitment violations even a thing?

Did you maximize your options at each step of recruitment?
Did you go to all your pref parties?
Did you rank every chapter whose pref you attended?
Did this chapter you refer to tell you to single preference them?
We need to know what the "dirty rush" entailed, and what you want the resolution to be. There's a whole boatload of vague going on here

This. The penalties I have heard of are monetary fines and/or a program sponsored by the offending group that covers the infraction and why it is wrong to commit said infraction.
OP, we can't tell you anything about this situation because we don't know the campus or the org.

If they were charged with dirty rushing you, you would know that because you would have testified at the hearing. Since the fsu recruitment just ended, they probably haven't had time for a hearing. I would venture their social probation was from last semester for some other reason. However, if you just have to know, go see the Greek adviser.
