Well, the story gets worse. Felix was actually an improvement on the name they chose for their first child, a son. He was named Nemesis. Let's just say the parents are "artistic."
I will say that it did bring up a supportive discussion of Sweden's law that requires newborns' names be submitted and approved. And this brings us back to the original thread, because this law was enacted primarily to prevent non-noble families from using noble family names....
So, when's that royal baby getting here?!

Well, the baby hasn't arrived yet but for those who can't get enough...The Telegraph is providing live video of the door to the hospital.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...-watch.html?fb
I've been checking in from time to time and it's still just a door.

I feel bad for Kate and William. The press need to leave them alone and let them welcome their child into the world at peace.
I kind of hope that they have snuck off and will have the baby somewhere else and the press will just be sitting on their butts.

At least they don't have the press in the delivery room any more. James II's wife, Mary of Moderna, gave birth with almost 200 people watching - and even then everyone claimed the baby was an imposter.

In fact, as recently as the present Queen's birth in 1926, it was required to have a certain politician - the Home Secretary - in the birthing room/hospital room to ensure the baby wasn't smuggled in. The birth of English royal heirs is not to be messed with! I'm glad that's not the case any longer.
Excited for Baby Cambridge!!!

Well, The Duchess of Cambridge is now in labor!
May she have a safe delivery and may the child she's carrying be healthy and well. :-)

It may be wrong, but I feel the tiniest bit of schadenfreude that even the DoC can't escape the unpleasantness of child-bearing.

It is the great equalizer, right? I'm kind of surprised they (really, any woman) does it naturally as opposed to C-section. I know there's all kinds of pros and cons, but the convenience of the Duchess would seem to be a significant pro.

Well, she's at least lucky enough to be a modern-era royal baby-bearer... I read an article about Renaissance era royals being confined to a dark room with no light except a roaring fire in the braizer (even if it was July) and about 70 witnesses to make sure that there was no baby-swapping. Of course, several hundred years before that, the royal consummation also required witnesses...

We stood in the little room in Edinburgh Castle where Mary, Queen of Scots gave birth to James VI, after a really, really prolonged labor...something like 2 weeks! How is that even possible? At least there was a window.
