Hi guys I'm new here but I too went through spring recruitment today at UF. They said the auditorium would be full at the beginning which would be around 300 girls.
UFSpringPMN, I also felt pushed through several houses, and at the table event I did not get to meet all the chapters. I connected at one or two sororities, and I am hoping for the best

Pretty sure that if you get a bid, you will only get ONE bid. Not several.

They did say it is possible for you to receive more than one bid though.

Good luck
I hope it all works out. Be interested to see if one of you end up in same sorority as my daughter. She said it was a fun and busy day!

With COB you can get more than one as the PNM doesn't rank or turn in a bid card.

COB is just completely different from formal rush... none of the rules are the same.

so no call for me yet but still keeping my hope up because the first 24 hour period will be up by tomorrow night so the sororities will be able to hand out more bids then. The bidding window is actually open for 10 weeks, which I thought was really weird, but the only thing I can do now is sit back and wait.
This definitely made me realize that Greek life is so for me and if nothing ends up happening for the spring then I definitely am doing it fall.

If I am understanding correctly, you meet the girls once and then wait for a bid?

Yes, basically we had to visit the houses within the 6 hour period and from that they decided who they were giving bids to because this was informal recruitment.

Not much time for you to get to know them or for them to get to know you.

I imagine many houses were very picky in the bids they gave out in the first round, probably only giving them out to women who were already friends of in-house sisters and such. Given that the bidding period continues for a few more weeks, my guess is that houses will reach out to PNMs they are interested in getting to know better and will give out bids more gradually. I wouldn't worry about not getting a call that first night if all you had was a small window in which to visit each and every participating house!

That's how COB works. It is continuous open recruitment, so the chapters can give the woman a bid without going through several rounds of interviews.

redlady2 That's a very good point and makes me feel a little bit better! I know that more bids will be given out over these couple of weeks as girls decline them, especially if a girl gets more than one bid so that still keeps me hopeful!
Like I said before this definitely gets me excited for fall though if I don't get a bid now!
