I heard Celine Dion singing Feliz Navidad the other day and my ears started bleeding...it was HORRIBLE. Give me back Jose Feliciano - he's the ONLY person who should ever sing that song.

Why is Joni Mitchell's "River" now a Christmas song? Because it mentions ice skating?

And while I do love Feliz navidad, I tend to get sick of it very quickly during the Christmas season because they play it so damn much during the holiday.

The Christmas Shoes - BLECCH. There's nothing that screams holiday joy more than a song about a dirt-poor family and their mom's impending death.

This includes songs that mention cold weather, ice skating, snow, sleigh rides, and a wonderful white world of winter WITHOUT the word Christmas in the lyrics.

And the fact that it's catchy, upbeat, and my kids like it and don't make me play something that makes me want to stab my eardrum with a fork.

Can you guys tell I'm serious about my Jose Feliciano???

ETA: The occasional composition entitled "Song Without Words" notwithstanding, a song by definition has words, so yeah -- a song without any words isn't really much of a song.

I loath The Little Drummer Boy. I think I've said that before on this thread though. And though Mariah Carey's song is good, it's way too overplayed. Enough already.
