Shame they didn't do so well at aging them up.

Yes, I meant that I thought it could have been done without altogether.
Though seriously, the aging up definitely did not work for some people. Especially bc it was supposed to be 19 years later They definitely didn't look 36 to me...

The aging just looked really fake. It's hard to take young, beautiful people and make them look not as young and a little more tired without taking it over the top. Perhaps more mature clothes (and not the Madeleine Albright getup Hermione was wearing) plus cgi-ing some smile lines/crows feet might have made it feel more real. They had more makeup on than Sophia in Golden Girls (which, without HD, looked totally natural).

I thought Ron totally looked 36 (or however old they were supposed to be).

I though they did quite a good job on Ron (that belly ) and Ginny had a total soccermom-haircut. Harry and Hermione? Not so much.

So after all is said and done how would the merry masses rate the 8 movies?
Best to Worst for me: - Goblet of Fire - Best action from start to finish (except the dance)
- Order of the Phoenix - great fight at the end and D. Umbridge
- Half Blood Prince - dark dark dark
- Deathly Hallows Pt. 2 - action galore and except for the epilogue pretty good all the way through
- Sorcerers Stone - a really good start and followed the book well
- Prisoner of Azkaban - just a little boring start to finish except for the werewolf/dog battle
- Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 - too long and a little boring
- Chamber of Secrets - just never clicked for me a little candy coated
Of course these are very subjective but it would be interesting to see what others liked and disliked and why.

I mostly concur with your list, but I would put Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 above Sorcerers Stone...The tale of the three brother's & the progression as they seek the horcruxes made that movie worth watching for me.

When it came to the aging, I thought they did a pretty good job with Ron, Harry and Ginny. Hermoine, well she looked exactly the same. I think they thought by pulling her hair into a tight bun she would look older but it didn't work for me.
I do get why they didn't want to hire other, older, actors to portray them. In the grand scheme of things it truly wasn't that big of a deal to me considering the scene is less than 5 minutes long.
On a side note, after the movie ended I was telling my dad (who hasn't read the books) the names of the kids, he cracked up when I told him that Ron and Hermoine's son is named Hugo.

Finally saw Deathly Hallows Pt II yesterday. I was SO disappointed. There are more loose ends to this movie than a damned bowl of spaghetti! So much left half explained or not explained at all & you are just left to wonder WTF?
I think the thing that bothered me the most was the entire Malfoy family running off like scared little girls at the end. No explanation at all, no repercussions, no explanation why Narcissa Malfoy told Voldemort that Harry was dead, nothing until you see Draco show up with a kid in that stupid epilogue.
Ya THINK there will be more prequels/ sequels? Well, OF COURSE there will.
