Bobby Brown can't get a fever without raising the temperatures of those around him.
Brown, an R&B artist, spent last night at Mary Washington Hospital with what his publicist said was "a high fever."
He and his famous wife, Whitney Houston, arrived at the Fredericksburg hospital's emergency room about 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
They were on their way home to New Jersey from a recording session in Atlanta for pop singer Houston when they made their unscheduled stop.
Brown, 33, "was really not feeling well," his publicist, Nancy Seltzer, said by phone from Los Angeles. "He has an infection and high fever."
At the hospital, Brown was treated with intravenous antibiotics and admitted to a room.
He was expected to be released from the hospital today, Seltzer said.
Houston and Brown's big brown-and-gold bus didn't have any names on it but still caused a stir when it pulled into the hospital parking lot.
Employees, patients and visitors buzzed with the news.
As Brown was treated inside, a cluster of curious women stood on a sidewalk near the parking deck.
Across from them, the bus sat alone in a parking area behind chain-link gates. Security men in white shirts looked official with their cell phones. A city police car briefly pulled up.
Soon, security guards moved the women out of sight, and when they still didn't seem ready to leave, a guard ambled over and suggested that they do so anyway.
"Did you see Whitney Houston?" one woman asked him.
The guard smiled and shook his head.
"Is she on the bus?"
"If you have a patient in the ER, you can stay. Otherwise, you'll have to leave," he answered politely.
Not long after that, about 6:15 p.m., the bus putted off hospital property.
Brown gained attention in 1981 with the R&B quintet New Edition. The group had several Top 10 hits before Brown quit in 1986. He won a 1990 Grammy Award for a solo R&B performance.
He married Houston in July 1992.
Brown has since had troubles with the law.
According to the Web site MTV.com, he spent two months in a Florida jail in the summer of 2000 for probation violations stemming from his 1998 conviction for driving under the influence.
In August 2001, he was treated at a hospital in New Jersey after suffering a seizure, according to VH1.com.
At the time, Brown's publicist attributed the seizure to heat exhaustion, but Brown refused to submit to urine and blood tests at the hospital.
But they are not on tour, so why the bus? LMAO
