I think one has a lot to do with the other... Let's face it...for every Tracy Turnblad, Bridget Jones and Kathy Bates, there are a thousand Millie Dilmonts, Erin Brachovichs, and Kate Hudsons.
I had a teacher once say that auditions are like grocery shopping...if the shopper is looking for carrots, you could be the best celery ever, but you're not getting picked. Well, I'm finally a carrot.

No. Unlike Alumiyum and knight_shadow, you think you can both initiate and end a back-and-forth; and you haven't learned that you can only control when you stop typing.

I haven't? I didn't realize that controlling others was an option in the first place. If I had, I would have just gone straight for your off button.

Either way, if somebody disrespects me on or off a message board they will get dealt with. How I choose to do that is on me.

Maybe it's just semantics, but I see bullying as a pattern of getting picked on. I don't think one or two incidents = bullying. Also, my parents were military, so I've been in military settings for my entire life. Kids acted out from time to time, but fear of getting caught by your parents or someone in their unit(s) stopped them from going too far. That, along with my attitude and build, is why I think I wasn't bullied.
And yeah, ass kicking isn't always the answer, but sometimes it is an answer.

And that's a fine interpretation, I'm sure people who study bullying have technical definitions and all, but that's kind of how I think about it too.
And yeah I'd suspect the military setting, for some people at least, results in less harassment for kids. I can see other individuals not fitting in/having the support of parents/etc.
And sure, violence is 'an answer' but when someone sees it as their first and necessary option - "I'm not going to let them punk me." - versus "it was the last straw and I had to do something" or even if it was a singular situation.
I'm not even exaggerating when I say it's the same attitude as my clients have. Hell we had a discussion about pride bringing you down today in group. (And they started it, I'm so proud of them.)

This deserves a bump.
LOL @ AlphaFrog and me
You ever had a back and forth with a username that you knew was a really silly back and forth; and you don't know what either of you is talking about? LOL.

Way to make me depressed about gaining back 10 of those 112#. You're such a meanie.
By the way, I still have no clue why bullying is such a big deal now. We all went through it and managed to survive without the Jonas Brothers PSAs telling us that bullying is wrong.

My bad, shawty.
The media, including the Internet, makes everything seem like a bigger deal than it is. The reality is that it was also a "big deal" when we were kids. I don't remember if there were PSAs on TV but we had a few school assemblies about people who were picking on others. Some things are kids being kids but it's up to adults to minimize the impact of it all.
The bullying when we were kids would've been different if we had cellphones and the Internet.

Very true and I do believe that its more prevalent now than when I was a kid. Between texting, t-witter and FB bullying can now happen 24/7 instead of just during school hours.

Yeah the Internet generation is doomed for many reasons including cyberbullying. I won't go on my Internet generation rant.

Bullying still had the potential to be 24/7 even before all of the social media sites.
I remember seeing/hearing about people following others home and/or jumping them before/after school. There just seems to be more keyboard courage these days.

OK, 14/7 lol I doubt FBers and T_witterers are online 168 hours per week
My point was that bullying occurred outside of school hours.

These kids are online 168 hours a week. These stupid phones give them access to everything while they are in class, in the car, at the dinner table...I HATE IT and I love that teachers/professors are prohibiting some of the access.
