Gee-thanks for this thread, now I want to re-do my bedroom! Just don't start one about living rooms.

Love this thread. I have ideas to post later but had to comment on the maroon/gold thing. Personally I am so over this combination because my mom uses it everywhere in our house, but it really does look very mature, homey and cozy

I want to redo the bedroom now, too. Right now it's kinda thrown together. When we bought the house, we inherited a master bedroom with walls that are a strange olive-greenish color, white trim, and hardwood floors. We moved our existing bedroom set into it. The set is dark cherry colored, a 4-poster queen bed, two bedside tables, two dressers, and a chest of drawers. (We have a lot of clothes and very little closet space :-/ )

If it were up to me, I'd repaint the walls black or indigo. I don't think the husband would be too happy with me if I did, though.

And those wall murals are really interesting! This one caught my eye:

But I think I'd look over at it every morning and cry.

Then there's this one, which includes an office building I used to work in:

There are some really pretty tropical and mountain murals on that site, but I'm a city mouse, not a country mouse.

I'm thinking something like this, but less busy.http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/Enla...30111106CZ.JPG

I eventually want to put hardwood in my room too, but have to wait until the dog is no longer with us.
Maybe you could break the patterns up by interspersing plain brown, red, and/or gold pillows and sheets. That could make the effect less busy overall.

I'm realizing I'm liking neutrals white/beige for the down comforter/duvet.

There's a cute one I love with baby animals that would go perfectly with the nursery theme we're going to do for our baby girl's room. Alas, the bedroom we're using for her nursery doesn't have a complete wall. One wall has windows, one has the large closet, the other has built-in shelving & the 4th is where the crib & changing table are going to go.
