You know you are a sorority member when . . .
. . . you find yourself "snapping" positive statements at the faculty meeting.

You make bubble letters on your posters and bulletin boards at school.

*When singing songs with the kiddos at work, you find yourself clapping and smiling instinctively (even when there are other motions that go with the song.)
*you automatically do the "sorority pose" in ANY group photos (even when they are with little kids/teachers.) I have to remind myself to stand normally.
As an alumna volunteer:
*you find yourself freaking out when you wake up and there is NO NEW EMAIL in your mailbox (and wonder if there is something wrong with gmail.)
*you know schools and chapter designations by heart and when given the chapter name, you know what school someone is talking about without looking.
*you can name every single chapter in your region (without looking at the map.)
*when someone non-Greek mentions a particular school, your first response is "oh my sorority has a chapter there."

And at other inappropriate times, much to the shock and confusion of your non-Greek friends ...and parents.

At Thanksgiving my two AOII cousins and I automatically went into sorority pose during family photos and got laughed at every time. It's a reflex.

I'm trying to imagine if the "sorority pose" is the same across councils. Pics please?

You have a natural affinity to anything brightly colored, polka-dotted, swirly lettered, or monogrammed...

. . . you hear a song from recruitment, and can't think of anything but the sorority lyrics. Every time that Discovery Channel commercial came on, I thought:
I love the crescent moon,
shining in the sky
And I love the pink carnation
'till the day I die.

I'm guessing it's either the "sorority squat" (front row in a half squat with hands on knees) or the hand-on-hip-with-elbow-at-90-degrees pose (though a lot of girls do that anyway because it's flattering).
I'd say you know you're in a sorority when...
-You have a separate drawer for sorority/fraternity event T-shirts
-Your first thought upon seeing a cute dress in a store is "I wonder if this would work for formal chapter/rush"
-You get excited seeing letters on cars on the road, even if they aren't from your sorority
-When you say "The House," it could only mean one house

This.
Example from our bid day pic thread:

What that front row is doing = sorority pose.

One of my sisters earned the nickname "Snaps" at work.

Spending an extended amount of time discussing the specifics of decorations/t-shirts/invites with a large group of people isn't weird for a Friday night.
(Gotta love recruitment!)

I find myself doing this all the time in class. I think my professors/fellow students think I'm crazy (they don't see many sorority women in Computer Science).

So glad to hear I'm not the only snapper!
I did this all throughout college and continue to do it today. I doodle whenever I have to take notes or make to- do lists...and I'm still finding myself doodling kites from time to time.

I think the snapping is so funny. I didn't see this until I started advising. My chapter had us yell "Ditto" if we agreed with anything so we wouldn't get up and repeat the same thing. Any chapter meeting was peppered with enthusiastic "Dittos" all night which sometimes made for a loud group. I think it was a tradition left over from the early years since we certainly weren't still using Ditto paper. We NEVER snapped!
