I am so glad you gave them a chance. It breaks my heart when we've extended bids to girls to have them turn them down or just come to bid day and never come back. Yes you go to a house and go "home" during bid day, but with everything it takes time. You aren't going to instantly be best friends with everyone.
I wish I could read this story to all the PNMs coming through recruitment. We have such good chapters here and its really sad that sometimes girls won't even try. That and its upsetting cause I wonder who that bid WOULD have gone to.
Sorry, tangent for a minute. Congrats!

So does UCLA have both a Fall formal recruitment and a Spring formal recruitment? Does spring recruitment work the same as in fall? In the spring does a chapter only get x number of girls till they are at total or is it just a set quota as in fall?

Thank you everyone
Mevara: Yes, UCLA has formal recruitment twice a year, and it works the same way. The only houses that don't participate are the ones who don't have any spots open. I think the guideline for doing spring rush is that there has to be more than 7 spots open; there's no quota and the houses get whatever number of girls they need to reach total.

A well told and thought out Recruitment story - kudos! I'd like to think that the next time somebody posts that they only feel good about 40% of their sisters, or still wish they had turned down their bid, somebody familiar with your story will point them here.
You are remarkable! Gamma Phi Beta must be thrilled to have a sister like you!
Edited to correct spelling.

I loved this story! I'm glad it got bumped with recruitment coming up. Just proof that things really do happen for a reason! I'm so happy you gave your new sisters a chance and are enjoying it.
