Makes sense. I've read someone's theory that, because of how Des responds to electromagnetism, Island-Des traded places with alt-timeline-Des, and that's why (1) Island Des thought MIB/Not-Locke was John Locke (and not MIB), and (2) LA-Des knew to run over LA-Locke. Your idea that Des was getting revenge fits nicely with this theory.

I like this theory. However, Desmond would have traded places before being pushed down the well.

Maybe the two timelines are running concurrently, and the Des that ran over Locke is aware of both timelines (and, therefore, aware of what has happened to his island counter-part). Maybe? I dunno, just thinking out loud here.

I like this theory. That explains why Des was not afraid @ the well and why he willingly joined Sayid.

I've come to realize that the only other person we have not seen in the sideways timeline is the other researcher from Widmore's boat that came with Charlotte and Daniel, the Black English woman (I forgot her name).
