So it's ok to just sit by and watch while someone writes a piece of fiction that perpetuates negative Greek stereotypes just because people feel the need to be entertained? Then by all means, carry on eaglesbaby!

I am not frightened off, never fear! I am choosing to ignore these posts and I refuse to continue defending my story. I've explained everything, and I'm not going to explain again. I will post more installments tomorrow!
Love to all my lovely supporters!

Except for the alcohol thing (which was a little weird, I admit) she hasn't perpetuated any stereotypes that dozens of other unchallenged recruitment threads haven't already perpetuated. If this doesn't sound like a campus you are familiar with, so what? I applaud her for being vague about how many of the sororities are NPC and how many are local... or even multicultural. It shouldn't matter.
Eaglesbaby, count me among your supporters. Please continue.

Why?
I don't understand the entertainment value in a story that is so fraught with errors. Why the interest in a story that not only is fiction but is not even based on a real campus?
I am not bashing all recruitment stories... just the ones that are not true, yet the writer won't own up to that.

For the same reason that people read fiction books.
Please eaglesbaby, continue!

Exactly.
And come on, you can't honestly believe that every recruitment story posted here is free from exaggeration and embelishment. I doubt ANY story in this forum is completely "true."

Because it is 4:00, I have an hour left at my office and no work to do, but can't leave because the secretary left for a doctor's appt. I am bored, and this story is better than market news which is depressing because it went down today.
At least, when reading this fiction (or fact?) I can pretend I'm actually working on a spreadsheet or something as people walk by my office door!! If I actually pulled out the book I'm reading, it might be frowned upon

It's really just a question of waiting a day or two to post your critiques. You're welcome to point all this out once it's over. The deal is that some of the stories REALLY were that entertaining, like seriously ridiculously entertaining, but we never got to the end.
And maybe it's just me, but objective realism isn't ever really the point in retro-recruitment stories. It's about narrative structure and enough detail to string us along.

If she wanted to just stay in this thread and tell the story of Rush at Sweet Valley U, that would be fine - problem is she is giving advice to people who are actual members of NPC groups that is completely against their policies.

Day 2
Hello, hello!
Sorry for the day-long break in between posts. That 9 page Spanish paper was brutal!
Anyway, I shall pick up where we left off.
I had ranked the houses, and the final draft looked like this:
- Peach
- Strawberry
- Cherry
- Starfruit
- Watermelon
- Pineapple
- Cantaloupe
- Mangoe
- Honeydew
- Plum
- Grape
- Kiwi
- Banana
- Blueberry
I'm not sure there is any real point in recapping the events. Generally, the only ones I had strong negative feelings for were my bottom three. The rest of the houses all seemed great. I liked some more than others, but in my mind I didn't have my heart set on a particular house yet - except maybe Peach. Otherwise, they were all pretty equal in my mind.
Jena and I woke up together again to get ready. I don't remember what type of attire was recommended, but I do remember what I wore: I chose a pair of cute pink and white polka dot espadrilles, a modest denim skirt, a cute pink top and a sweet little glossy pink handbag. Very pink, but not too much. After we dressed and did makeup, etc, Jena and I went to grab some food. I could hardly eat, though, because I was so concerned that I wouldn't be going back to Peach . Jena seemed über confident, however, which rattled me a little bit.
When we got the meeting place, my Rho Chi was there, all smiles. At this point I was positive I was going to throw up. Could Marie have been right? Did I come off negatively to the sisters of Strawberry since I was talking to a couple of actives at once? Could I have ruined my chances at that house, and a few others as well? I spun into a serious state of panic while I waited for my Rho Chi to give me the news...
