My chapter did this all the time. It's a good recruitment strategy to keep meeting women and keep them interested in your sorority, even if you are not handing out bids right then and there.

The girl who had class w/ you is probably how you got invited, but she should have invited you PERSONALLY rather than you getting an impersonal invite...no wonder you're confused.

Do not email asking when/if bids are going to be given out or what your "status" is. If they want to extend a bid to you, they will. That might be a week from now, it might be a month from now, it might be a year from now. Everything isn't "instant" all the time.

[quote=APhiAnna;1781775]I would NOT do this...asking somebody from a chapter why "I was the only non-member here" could be seriously awkward...maybe they invited 50 girls and she was the only one who showed up (obviously a little exaggerated)...in that type of scenario it would be a seriously rude question and even her closer friends in the chapter might reconsider giving her a bid.[quote]

I guess that I'm not reading anything in the OP, other than "recruitment ended a few weeks ago" that would indicate that these recent events have anything to do with recruitment (past, present or future). I stand behind my suggestion that if you "don't know what to make of this," perhaps you should ask someone in the know. All GC can do is guess about the circumstances of your attendance at these events which probably in turn leads you to question the events and the chapter's motives even more. You apparently have made friends in the chapter and probably have some classes with these girls so why not politley ask them in private "what's up?" I would view this conversation as you expressing an interest in their organization, if your hope is to eventually be extended a bid. If not, I'd just take these events for what they are ... a good way to meet friends on campus.
