pref night centerpiece ideas?
Hello ladies! I would love if any of you could give me some ideas or pics of some simple cute centerpiece ideas?
Our theme (AZD) always incorporates pink roses, but even if you know of a cute centerpiece that youve seen with another flower, I could just change the flower to the roses we use. I would love it if you guys wouldnt mind sharing your ideas..thanks!!

At the chapter I advise I'm pretty sure they use a basic bouquet of pink roses that they then give to the PNMs in the ceremony. So for each preference party they bring out another bouquet beforehand. It's not fancy, but it's simple and looks cute and works well in the ceremony.

do you mean for the individual pref tables, or is this a main centerpiece on a central table in the room? I have ideas for both. Let me know which youre looking for, and I'll PM you some ideas.

The suggestion I had referred to serves as the main centerpiece for the table in the pref ceremony, which I understand now is not what you were after. I still think simple is best, so maybe some bud vases with a couple of bud roses in them? Or if you wanted more flowers than that you could do a square vase filled with roses - I think on the cover of the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings there is something like that. Wedding magazines are a good place to look for ideas for table arrangements. I think the key is to keep the arrangement low, though - you don't want members having to dodge around flowers to talk PNMs!

I would personally not use flowers other than pink roses. Think of what happens in the preference ceremony (the new one) and how the roses are used and what they stand for. Why compromise that by using a different flower? Chances are Amanda is going to give you some of the same suggestions as I would, but I would not use a flower outside of the pink rose. I certainly would not dare allow my chapter to do that....gotta throw that advisor weight around somewhere...LOL! Seriously though, with every special ceremony there is a pink rose.....

Trish - do you have any pictures of our centerpieces? I've already emailed a description to her, I'd like to send her a pic if we have any...

Nope. I was going to take one last year, but the room wasn't good enough in my opinion. This year Debbie is doing the room, so we'll have plenty of photo opportunities. Unfortunately that doesn't help her now. Sorry.

How about getting pink roses a few days before Pref and letting them open up nice and big. Fill a pretty glass bowl with water and float a sigle rose in the bowl. I'd let them open up because they float better when they're open as compare to when they're still pretty tight. I've done this with roses of mine that have broken off at the head when I was putting them in a vase and they're beautiful. I agree that Martha has some good idea that you can use in her weddings magazines.

thank you for all the ideas ladies...yes, we definetely we will be using the pink roses only...its just traditional and our chapter likes it that way....I like the idea of putting the opened single rose in the bowl, but it makes me nervous, because one year we got flowers before pref night and by the night they looked dead =/
and thank you for the workout pics..the flowers are gorgeous!

Did you keep them in a fridge or a cooler until you had to use them? That should prevent them from looking wilted. Also, if you wanted to do single opened roses maybe you could buy a little extra and replace the really badly wilted ones after the first pref party is over (and same for the second - or however many you have).

I totally agree with keeping the roses in the fridge until you are ready to use them. The year I was pref day head, I kept the roses for pref, bid day and all the ceremonies in the fridge for those 2 -3 days. We did loose a few but most of them came through great. Just don't have the fridge too cold or you will have rosesicles. Yeah, I did that.
