I repeat...
I think that's pretty harsh, unless of course you have first-hand knowledge and are fully aware of both sides of the situation.

I disagree with you because while there was a lot of bad publicity around this incident, they're not the only GLO to ever screw up. The time frame they gave keeps them off campus until all former members are gone and all members of other GLOs who were active at the time are gone as well. That's a really standard time frame. DZ wanted to push it up because they wanted a chapter in existence for its centennial. The chapter would have come back on campus with the same stigma it had when it left. Now it'll have a chance to be a real, honest to goodness chapter.

DePauw will be a very, very tough campus for colonization/reorganization.
And if anyone is wondering, there is new leadership at Delta Zeta.

Dr. Bottoms Retirement
"ETA, I looked at stories in The DePauw and the lawsuit was originally to start in September 2008. There's also a story about the national president of DZ resigning in September (sorry if this was reported earlier) and President Bottoms retiring/resigning, depending on your POV."
Just an FYI--Dr. Bottoms did not resign. His retirement has been in the plans for a few years now, as he has served the college for 21 years (at the end of the 2007-2008 school year). Also, he will stay as Chancellor of the University and oversee the Prindle Ethics Institute.
Dr. Bottoms handled the DZ mess with a great deal of compassion and insight regarding the best interests of the current DZ members and alumni and DePauw students and alumni (all of whom had their lives turned around by the actions of DZ nationals).

Not being a DePauw student, and seeing the many many comments on The DePauw's site and elsewhere regarding the matter...that is why I said "depending on your POV."
