There are regulations but on many campuses, groups can go over total by taking quota during formal rush. And when you have pledge classes of 80 girls and don't automatically adjust total, I think it happens a lot.

That of course does not include anyone who has gone inactive or depledged post-recruitment.

I hate to taunt the Buckeye logic, but OSU is only able to take a quota of 25, that will not take the house over the campus total of 100, This gives the smaller houses the ability to increase their numbers more easily.
Last Spring, Out of 14 houses, only 4 were below 60 ladies, and one of those had just recolonized. Four or five were in the nineties and the rest fell in the middle
Of course at Bama, we multiply by 2.

I think if they limited quota any more, you'd have too many women with no place to call home. I don't think you can assume that limiting the number of women the big groups take will necessarily trickle down to the smaller groups...especially since SDT doesn't even participate in formal recruitment. By the way, Gamma Phi Beta doesn't look like it's suffering with low numbers...the picture of their new member class is impressive!

Thank you, AOII Angel. Gamma Phi is by no means suffering with our numbers. 130 women is more than enough to sustain the chapter for the time being, and factoring in graduating seniors, I know that Gamma Phi will be at total of 180 by next fall. Total was JUST raised from 140 to 180, so we're really not that far off. The new pledge class (now numbering 73) is A-MAZ-ING, and numbers-wise, we're simply playing catch-up from 2 and 3 years ago. The past two years of Recruitment have resulted in great numbers for Gamma Phi.

For the life of me I can't understand why LSU fans now hate Saban. He brought you guys a national championship, and the team would not be where it is now without his foundation... oh well. That's for another thread.

To continue the hijack...sorry I just had to.
I get why LSU fans are mad at Saban, might I add, I don't mind a bit because we ended up on the good end of the deal.
If Gene Stallings had left Bama after winning his Nat'l Championship to go the the pro's and then decided to come back to college and took at job at that other school down the road, not to be named by my mouth ever...cowpasture. I would feel beyond angry and betrayed. I think it is more about where Saban went to after he left the dolphins than anything else. I mean they probably wouldn't be mad if he had ended up at a non-SEC school. I could be wrong here, but I feel like it's the rivalry SEC issue more than anything else.
Like I said before though, I don't mind a lick!

That's great to hear! I hope she enjoys SDT as much as I do!!!

Right now, taking party in FR would hurt SDT more then help. I am hoping once we raise our numbers a bit we will start taking place in FR, even if it's just the early rounds.

You hit the nail right on the head. Saban defaulted on his contract with us to chase the NFL which didn't work out for him so he goes to an SEC rival! Where I come from that's called a traitor. Sure...LSU is doing just fine without him. We LOVE our coach, Les Miles....I think he is just as good or better than Saban, but that doesn't get Saban off the hook!!!

As far as the Old Row thing is concerned, when I was at Bama in the mid 80's, the fraternities were Sigma Nu, Phi Gam, Phi, Deke, SAE and KA and the Sororities were Alpha Gam, KD, Chi O, Tri-Delt, Phi Mu and Kappa. If I remember correctly, I think that the Pikes, Sigma Chi's and Alpha Chi's took part in some of the Old Row parties and there may have been other houses like AOPi and Theta Chi.

OLD ROW [CURRENT]: DKE, SAE, KA, Phi Gam, Phi Delt, Sigma Nu
KD, Chi O, AX O, Phi Mu, AGD, KKG, Tri Delt
each fall and spring, 2 separate shirts are made and given to the designated old row fraternity/sorority. i guess it's snobby, but then again, it's tuscaloosa. also, they're fraternity's and sorority's that join up on a lot of things [ie- DKE/KKG, SAE/KD, KA/Chi O...etc.]

"i also don't think UA should be allowed to spring rush girls. Auburn doesn't and i think it's a great idea. it really gets girls' hopes up for nothing[or in other cases, for everything."
Auburn does do spring recruitment IF there are groups below total. That is the only requisite for spring recruitment. And ONLY groups below total can participate. I believe at this time there is only one group there below total. I may be wrong though as I haven't checked since recruitment.

Umm...most of her statements in regards to R haven't been appropriate. Example: When she said that she was shocked that the girl from CT got a bid to KD, because they only take local girls. Way to perpetuate the stereotypes. Good going.

I think she's talking about the panhellenic weekend that they have in April for HS seniors. A lot of the girls end up being guests of friends and stay in the house.
