KD Mod Nominations
Sisters in KD,
I guess saying, "We need a mod" is a little too vague. Perhaps we'd have better luck convincing John to appoint a mod if we could name someone specific.
So, if there's a sister you'd like to nominate, please do so here.
AOT,
SydneyK

Although it's unlikely that we'll get a Mod, I'd like to nominate kathykd2005. Sydney, I think you'd be great too. Of course, if someone wants the job speak up!
ETA: I would have mentioned Annie as a very obvious choice, but I think she's got a bit much on her plate and wouldn't want the position anyway.

I second your nomination of kathykd2005. Kathykd2005, are you interested?
Since you mentioned my name, I don't mind telling you that I PM'd John and offered to serve in this capacity (even if only temporarily, until a "real" mod could be identified). I never heard back from him. I wouldn't mind the position, but if someone else wants the job, I'd much rather a (capable) sister who wants to be a mod be one.

I would nominate annie, a.k.a kdonline, because I know for certain that she is an honest to goodness KD in good standing.
There are many KDs on here whose first names I don't know and to my knowledge haven't ever even mentioned their chapters.
I am highly against making someone a mod whose membership in our organization has not been verified.

I agree about Annie. She was the first person I thought of but I figured that she was too busy. If I'm wrong then absolutely Annie.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm one of those KDs who hasn't ever mentioned my chapter. I've personally seen one of my sisters cyberstalked, and I refuse to put enough info out there for the same to happen to me. If that means taking my name out of consideration, then so be it. But, I think it's unfortunate that any potential mod has to surrender her anonymity.
If there's a way to verify membership without sharing personal info (maybe directly through HQ, but that's asking a lot of them), I'm all for it, but I don't necessarily think it's fair that whoever is selected as a mod (if that ever happens) has to put herself out there like that.
Maybe I'm overreacting, and I can definitely understand why we wouldn't want a non-KD as a mod, but I don't know how to protect ourselves and verify membership at the same time.
ETA: I'm all for Annie. She has done amazing things for KD online, and would be a huge asset to our forum. I guess the question is, is she interested?

Whoops! For some reason I thought that Sydney was one of the onliners -- and, therefore, verified.
Sydney, I like you and respect you, but I do think that in order to be a KD mod you would have to be a verified member.

I was an onliner, but I'm not anymore. I got booted when I didn't post frequently enough (I knew it would happen; at the time I just didn't have time). If that constitutes as verified, then I don't see a problem with that, since everyone else there is verified. But, here, on the other hand, I'm reluctant to share such info since we don't even know if everyone's Greek. Know what I mean?
ETA: I didn't think about being an onliner serving as being verified. I'm totally fine with that; I think that's a great way to verify membership. And, I'm really not even trying to become a mod at all... I just want us to have one.

I guarantee that I'm an "honest to goodness" KD in good standing. I'm KDNYAA's webmaster. http://kdnyaa.homestead.com But I also second any of the other KDs mentioned here. Annie is a great nomination, of course!!! I have already let John know that I am willing to do it; I'm online a lot for the KDNYAA position and for several other websites I run for alumnae of my chapter.

Sydney, I totally understand your position. However, we have had numerous kd perps here on gc. I strongly believe that the kd mod needs to be a verified kd in good standing. Part of the job of the mod is to help protect from fakes (at least it has evolved into that at times).

I agree - I just hadn't thought about being an onliner serving as verification. I think that's a great idea. Plus, the onliner community would also help identify the perps. It's a good idea, for numerous reasons, for the mod to be active in both communities (GC and kdonline).

Further verification could also be made through the national KD website, since many of the sisters on here are also a part of the "Friendship Network" on http://www.kappadelta.org

I don't nominate anyone in particular. I think all the small group of "regulars" who have been here the past few years, have all proven themselves to be not only actual sisters, but also great sisters. That said, if anyone wants it or John actually wants to give us a mod, I support whomever.

I never realized how true this was until I was TOTALLY fooled by one. Of course I felt like an idiot when Dani and everyone proved the girl was a perp, but dang, I never even saw it coming. She knew EVERYTHING under the sun and was so nice...

Totally off topic, but I LOVE the Friendship Network now that it's working. It's like Facebook without all the crap and I can just keep up with sisters -- how fun! :P I just wish more people were a part of it. 99% of my chapter probably doesn't even know it exists.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have no idea what the Friendship Network is. And I often go to KD's website! Is it hard to find or something? (I'm so incredibly hopeless with computers!)

I don't think you all need a moderator. Who comes over here?
This thread and the other mod thread are the first threads I've seen in a long time.
