PLEASE HELP! I am SO CONFUSED with GREEK life.
ok im going to the UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA!. it is my understanding joining a fraternity at Alabama (according to the brothers of the fraternities ive rushed) im paying for a brotherhood and to get girls and to party. they told me that A) ill have a life long brotherhood B) "i can just grab a couple girls at the end of a party and take them to my room" (which i honestly i felt offended even tho i am a guy) C)plenty of partying
also, i asked them bout old row fraternities and how they differ from new ones and they said they dont really. but i have a feeling old row gets more girls...

If you still don't have a bid and are this confused, you might want to consider waiting on pledging. Top UA fraternities have most likely given out 90% of their bids.

Forgive me for making some assumptions here. You've got 2 bids. Based on your question it sounds like one is Old Row and the other isn't. You're trying to make up your mind on which to accept.
Your only criteria seems to be which one will get you more girls. You've made no mention of even liking any of the guys in any of the Chapters. All you said is that joining a frat will "pay for brotherhood, get girls and party". Well good luck with that.

A) ill have a life long brotherhood. This was true in my experience.
B) "i can just grab a couple girls at the end of a party and take them to my room" (which i honestly i felt offended even tho i am a guy). If you got those kinds of skills then hats off to you.
C) plenty of partying. I guess it depends on the house. Old Row vs. New? Sign with the house that you feel comfortable at.

Excellent banditone!
First off, buying friends to be a member of a Fraternity is a HOT button to me.
"IF" I paid for my friendship of my Brothers, it must have been well worth it as I still have life long friends and have been doing this for 42 years.
Getting more girls, that is actually to, to funny, but sad at the same time. There is a lot more going on in a Fraternity than just partying, like doing charity events, being memebers involved in the campus or being sports.
Old Row or New Row? It is not the building or location that makes a Reaternal Brother hood, but the members. That is the key, the Brothers.
As banditone said, find the best place that you feel comfortable with. That is where the life long friendships come from.
Good luck no matter which you choose or they choose you.

ROTFLOL!
Seriously, this is hilarious. I really don't think that you want to go with every girl at Alabama... you would definately catch something eventually...
I really dont think that any girl would go with a spaz just because he is a member of XYZ fraternity. In your case, be careful and get tested regularly....Go with the house you feel is more like you because you are in it for the long haul; not the case for the girls....

wreckingcrew used to have a line in his signature about his fraternity offering the best dollars to friends ratio on campus... great line.
At any rate, you're not buying you're friends, you're paying your part of a fraternal experience which you will value for the rest of your life. I'd personally be pretty turned off by whoever said you could just "grab two girls" at the end of whatever party. That's clearly just a rush line used for clueless freshmen. The entire line seems to indicate a lack of class to me.
-- but that's just me.

Your experience is what you make of it--if you don't feel comfortable with the people in a certain group, and find a lot of the members making offensive statements (like the grab a couple of girls one), then it probably isn't the one for you... However, you could take that as a challenge. A true leader is able to lead in the most difficult of circumstances, such as when you want to do something positive in the community, and everyone else just wants to party and meet girls. Are you a strong leader? You have to ask yourself this.

No disrespect meant here Mr. Jones, but I think the more important questions are the ones you should be asking yourself. What is your reason for going through recruitment? Is it to honestly forge friendships that will be life-lasting or is it to attempt to use the fraternity as a dating service?

if you are suave and debonair you will "get" girls whether you are in a fraternity or not. if you are a geeky nerd, i doubt that being a fraternity member will assist in the notching of your bedpost.
for the majority of "girls", it is more about the individual than the organization he is a member of.

LOLOL!!! You really said that!!!! Hahaha, if I'd said that, I would have gotten a ton of pms from people saying, "Wow! I totally can't believe you said it, how did you know about notching?"

I think Sperry is going for one of the faster bans in GC history. Check out the other posts.
ETA: Scratch that. Sperry's first post was over a month ago. Not so fast really.
