What is clingy?

What is your opinion of what clingy is for males and/or females?

When someone has exceeded the comfort level of their significant other when it comes to together time or being accountable for where they are and what they have done.

Think multiple calls daily to check in or see whats up.

I know thats not really a useful description. But its going to be highly variable depending on the both the individual involved and how into each other they are.

Some people like to move into their BF/GF's ass and take up residence. Some people really like that. Others not so much. It can make it uncomfortable to move around . . .

Also, some people will allow or encourage more clinginess in the beginning when things are new, or when they like the other person more.

Red face IMO.

Stalking is illegal in all 50 states...

That is clingy.

Another this is whiny to get what you want. Most men hate that tactic unless they are paying for a prostitute in a girly suit. Or if homeboy is a pedophile trying to catch some off "Perverted Justice".

For male: Men are possessive. When it borderlines on domestic violence that is not clingy, that is possesesive.

- Wanting your significant other to be around you all the time.
- Not having any hobbies or activities of your own that do not involve your significant other. Not wanting the significant other to have any either.
- Having your entire life revolve around your significant other.

It may not necessarily cross the line into jealousy or possessiveness. It may not involve stalking. But it is still problematic.

a few things things:

-when they feel the urge to sit next to their computer and put alerts on your screen name so that they can instant message you when you're no longer idle but still away..and its a regular occurance except when they're in class or sleeping.

-if they get angry because you haven't texted them in a two hour span just to say hi.

-those that feel the need to hold onto you all night long. let me have my half of the bed, i'm not going anywhere!

*When they purposely do not leave the house, but instead sit in their house, showered and dressed, just in case you call and want to do something.

The guy I'm dating had a gf who was like this, so he figured all women need this kind of attention, which brings me to--

*Calling to say "hi," hearing me say "I'm busy, I'll call you later," then calling back in 2 hours to say "hi."

*Calling more than 5 times AND exchanging 40+ text messages in any 48 hour period, especially when half of mine said "I'm busy, I'll get back to you."

The phonecall every 2 hours to ask what you're doing is pretty clingy.

Marriage discussion (as in saying things like "when we get married" or "for our wedding") after like month to me is clingy.

Some people like those types of behaviors but to me it's clingy.

Ditto. Especially when you've told the significant other that you want some "me" time, and then they call you after about an hour to ask if you're done.

*Clingy is being unable to go anywhere or do anything without your significant other.

"Hey Suzy, do you wanna go *insert girly activity here*?"
"Oh that sounds like fun, can Bob come?"

That's a clinger.

*Now there is nothing wrong with supporting your significant other's interests by doing things that he likes to do sometimes. When your boyfriend's interests become your own, you're a clinger.

For example, Suzy used to really like jogging, scrapbooking, and snowboarding. Once she started dating her new boyifriend Bob, she stopped doing all the things she liked to do and started only doing what he liked to do. Her new hobbies now include wearing jean shorts, black t shirts with metal bands on them, watching WWF 5 nights a week and ordering pro wresting events on Pay Per View. Sad.

I call it, "The Pretzel Effect."

Just an observation that a lot of girls will bend themselves and their interests to meet their idea of what their BF wants . . . in the beginning anyway.

Major problems later when she starts to unbend.

I used to work with a woman who would call her man, now husband, when she got to work, when she went to lunch, when she was done with lunch, and when she was leaving work. He would get pissed if she didn't check in at least those four times. He always had to know where she was at any given time. She could not leave work to go out to eat because he wouldn't like that idea! I never could figure out what made me more upset. The fact that he demanded that kind of behavior or the fact that she thought it was just fine. I'd rather stay single than deal with that crap.
