I am fully aware of that. My organization has been a full member of the Inter Fraternity Sorority Council at New Jersey Institute of Technology since November 1993.
My question was just out of curiosity. I had seen on
www.localsororities.org something a couple years about a National Association of Local & Independent Sororities forming but haven't heard much about it.
That's pretty much why I threw the question out there. I was more interested in finding out about what National councils a Local or Independent organization can join up with that have been well established similar to NPC, NPHC, NIC or MCGC.
I know some of you probably wonder why a local would want to be part of a national council if they aren't national. Some locals have existed for decades and some for over a century as the only chapter and don't want to have other chapters or be part of the NPC. There are also some organizations that have a few chapters in their region but not enough membership or no desire to be part of any of the above councils.
But I think that a National council would benefit these types of organizations by bringing them all together and allowing for more unity. I would also assume that this type of council could set up basic policies to keep chapters accountable for hazing violations and serve as a resource. I just think that a council for independent organizations in theorey could help make a local more official and less as an organization that exists for the purpose of hazing and not following any rules.
Does anyone else agree? Disagree?
