That's exactly what we are going for in the suggestion to disband the AI Forum. A sorority should come to you to invite you to AI. Not the other way around.

You make it other people's business by sharing your story on a public message board. I don't care what any of you "AI seekers" are doing in real life, but your publicizing your sorority shopping on the internet gives others the idea that they should pursue it, too. And that's not how AI works for the vast majority of NPC sororities. It isn't something to be pursued. It's something to be approached about by a current sorority member.

That's just nothing but high-school BULLSH*T, and I have read the same thing on the AI side. If a member gets into a fight on GC with PNAI, the first thing they say is, "We'll make sure you don't get in."
As members of these organizations, we have every right to share information with chapters about PNM's whom we feel would not make good members. This is common practice and that is why we have PRIVATE MEMBERSHIP SELECTION POLICIES.

It comes from being part of an exclusive organization that does not have open membership.

ETA: The AI's don't need a forum. Once initiated, they are our sisters. These sisters, who joined through our alumnae initation programs, have 26 NPC forums dedicated to them and we want them to take part in all things in Greek Life online and IRL as our fellow equals. There should be no such thing as a PNAI because a sorority should approach you about AI in their organization. Thus there is no need for a forum about AI.

Perhaps members who are familiar with their organizations' requirements for AI are best suited to decide what "the first test for AI" should be.

AGREED.

So many of the AI stories start with "So I was lurking for the past 10 months and now I'm finally going to post!!!! I am so excited that there is AI because I couldn't rush in college because of ___________ and now that I'm 45 I'm ready to find my forever sorority home!! I already contacted 10 NPC groups and will name them after the characters on The OC! OMG I'm so excited!"

That's because as far as I know there isn't one. As has been stated several times, each of the 26 NPC organizations sets their own policy for AI. I'm familiar with my sorority's policy as I attended the convention where it was voted on, but I know absolutely nothing about the other 25 groups' polcies.

If you know of some NPC general AI policy that I'm not aware, please post it or direct me to a link to it as I'd be curious to read it.

Other than some recommendations about rush, which we all know is totally differently than AI, does the NPC have general rules about anything that individual groups do?

Maybe a few like, if you are in one group, you can't be in another group.

But in general, GLOs don't have the same policies.

No one expects that they do.

Yet, we still have GreekChat conversations about what groups do. Everyone understands that just because one group does something one way, it doesn't mean that every group A) does that one thing and/or B) that if they do it, they do it the same way.

I'm not sure why people find "that different groups have different rules about AI" means that no one can discuss AI.

It seems to be another example of how a rule applied to AI doesn't seem to guide other areas of GreekChat.

Maybe: Although Alphagamuga acknowledges her contribution to the circular nature of the AI discussion, the complete culpability for the recursive nature of the discussion rests with all.

You aren't the only redundant one in this thread. At some point people will realize that it's not so much a huge and ongoing disagreement as it is people saying many of the same things in different ways. It's a case where the powers-that-be need to swoop in and just DO something and stick by whatever decision they make.

I was so much in agreement with what you say here that for a while I wasn't even going to bother posting.

Then Criminal Minds on TV wasn't quite holding my complete attention, and one thing led to another. . .
