That's what it seems like to me.
I personally rather see someone SIP if they know they would only accept a bid from one group, and not from both (or all) of the groups that they atteneded pref night at. I've seen girls attend pref night by us and not put us on thier bid card (sadly, the way rush was ran at my old school [might still be, I'm not sure seeing as how our chapter was closed] was really wrong and every sister got to see how they were ranked on a bid card, among other problems), and while it hurts to see that, I rather see that then see someone who didn't want us get "stuck" with us.

That's right. UCF formal recruitment is over and a few chapters have open spots. Theta made quota-- but they may be doing CR up to chapter Total-- they were just at total last spring.
I knew their founding president-- she was a real fireball!

i'm sorry it didn't work out for you. you stated earlier that you were even more nervous during your first COR event and that may have shown through. i know that when i'm nervous i tend to say some really silly things regardless, there is no point in asking what is wrong with you. your self-worth can only be defined by yourself. college can be a very fufilling experience even without sorority involvement. just keep your chin up and have fun with your best friend this weekend!

I'm sorry it didn't work out.
I can understand where it would be frustrating-- membership selection is a secret process and it's hard to know if perhaps there is something you could "work on" to improve-- not for the sake of a sorority membership, but to be the best person you can be. Who knows? Maybe you do have something to work on and it isn't in the plans for you right now. Or not. Truthfully? Yes, grades, your "look," your personality, your year in school, your reputation from high school (which follows you if you are going to college with people from your hometown), etc., may affect your recruitment. Ultimately, it comes down to what attributes you bring to the chapter and how well you click with them-- you may click well, but if the other factors aren't there, that could also be a reason.
Get great grades and get involved on the UCF campus-- honestly, you are going to be friends with a ton of UCF Greeks and probably be spending time at sorority houses and Greek-related events if you get involved with activities like SGA, CAB, Dance Marathon, O-Team, etc. I know to some this sounds like a band-aid solution, but I like to think of it as getting on with your life. It isn't unthinkable that in the course of living your life a sorority you hadn't considered may come along. As an alum of UCF pre and post-Greek life, I can tell you that I had a sisterhood both before my sorority and after I joined-- and there a bunch of wonderful ladies who are not ADPi's that I am proud to call my soul sisters!!!
It's not unheard of for a junior with good grades and campus accolades to get a sorority bid. Her recruitment won't be as competitive as an underclassman, but it isn't out of the realm of "possible" should you want to try this next fall, whether at UCF or as a UF transfer.
Take this time to nurse your disappointment, move past it and be the best liltrixx you can be. You have a bright future ahead, and it is up to you to realize that potential.
PS: Now get ready to be glued to your TV on Sat when the Golden Knights take on the Gators!

I know ZTA took at least one, because she's the daughter of my good friend here in Tallahassee. ;-)
JesXIca - I don't know if it would do any good, but I would speak to you chapter's Panhellenic delegate about the SIP/forced to rank issue. It could be that there is a persistent misunderstanding of the campus recruitment rules.

It's a persistent rumor that has been around since I was a student at UCF: some people have heard it and believe you will be kicked out of the computer if you SIP. When I was a PX, we had more training on how to handle heatstroke and sing the sorority door chants than we did on Panhellenic rules and reporting infractions.
It may have been true at one time using another recruitment software that you couldn't SIP, but certainly not today. Plenty of girls SIP and are placed with their choice because of their placement on that SIP chapter's list.
ETA: UCFPNM, I'm glad you got your new screen name! I love "JessXIca!"

As a sister of UCF Theta its hard to sit back and read comments about our own recruitment. I hope every pnm understands that recruitment isnt the end all of sorority life. Although Theta wont be participating in Spring Recruitment 2007, many well established and accomplished chapters will be. If any pnm has her heart set on going greek, spring recruitment might be for her. My best advice is to simply be yourself, every alum and sister will agree that its not about impressing the sisters, but being genuine and sincere. Every girl will find where she belongs, just like I did. Theta is my whole life, and youll find a chapter that will be yours

But obviously it was important enough for you to rush and then stick with it. I'm not trying to attack anyone, but have read this in other threads and it gets old. I didn't want to get involved with a club that ends when I leave college, I wanted a group for a lifetime, a sorority.
Again I am not attacking anyone but this is how I feel and maybe I am at the anger stage but whatever. I still love GC and all the wonderful people I have connections with on here. The end!

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but I felt the same way when I read her post. On one side, she's saying that it's not the end of the world if you don't get in (I think that's what she was trying to say), but then she says that Theta is her life, which seems to contradict that.
I'm just going to say that I can't imagine how you are feeling right now, as I went through rush at a pretty uncompetitive school, but I hope you feel better soon!

Alphafrog, you took the words right out of my mouth
Liltrixx, please know that my thoughts are with you right now. I hope that in your own time, and in your own way, you can find the comfort you need.

I didn't mean that theres other ''clubs" on campus for lilltrixx to join, but more that theres other sororities out there. Everything will work out, because it always does. I would recommend going into OFSL and finding out what sororities are still doing COB or Spring Recruitment.

I know you're new to the boards, but blowing sunshine up people's asses is something we try not to do. It just pisses them off and doesn't help any.
ETA: I can't remember who, but someone had a GREAT post about ending up where you're meant to, but w/o the sunshine up the ass part. Maybe someone can dig that up.

I really don't think that she was trying to offend her...do we really need to jump on her?
