The first major thing I've done as a newly initiated member was attend NARC, where I assisted with one of the workshops.
I'm currently active with the Ivy Reading AKAdemy and our upcoming Rites of Passage/Beautillion program (I'm one of the mentors) which already kicked off. There are other upcoming events whereas I plan to lend a helping hand with. This Saturday, I will be in attendance at our Cluster Leadership Conference.

Go head on!
Maybe we should have a GC Neo of the Year Award!
RD, did you pick up your packet from Soror BD? She told me some were damaged at her home.

I'm on several committees as my chapter is very small. I am the fundraising chair and don't miss ANYTHING unless I am off of the island. I also seem to be obsessed with our colors. I have now turned a deaf ear to my chapter sorors who ask if I own any other colors. The answer is no. lol
I haven't missed any official AKA gathering i.e Regional, Boule, Leadership. I am wherever I am needed and help where I can.
I truly LOVE being an AKA. I love the relationships I've formed through her, I love doing the WORK of AKA, I love PLAYING in AKA. This truly was the best decision I could have made & I'm loving every moment of it.

I'm also no longer a neo, but I love Soror Paradise's post because I share some of those characteristics. Doing the work, along with a bit of play, are so important. Also, in my case, I am a single non-parent and have a lot of time to devote to our sorority. On the other hand, even if my circumstances change, I'll always be working.

YES!!!
EXCELLENT topic, Soror Moderator!
My journey to become an AKA has taken me the better part of the last four (4) years of a goal/dream I've had for nearly eighteen (18) years (hence, one of the explanations for my line name ). Now that it's finally happened, I plan to make the most of it.
I will be attending our NFD Celebration in Jackson, MS, this weekend (my first major "event" as an AKA). I've also been appointed my chapter's Historian, which is quite an honor as a new sister (a couple of my line sisters were appointed our Hodegos and Philacter as well). I plan to run for an elected office once I'm eligible to do so.
I am also on our Constitution & By-Laws committee, as well as the Fundraising Cmte. I already have an idea of a fundraiser that'd be my "pet project" for the semester. I'll let you know what comes of it!

It's messages such as this one that keep seriously interested sisterfriends focused on their quest... Thanks...

Hey Sorors,
We have been off the Yard at Towson University for so long so when we crossed the first thing we worked on was campus activities. Since 06 started we have had a Bake Sale, Played BIngo at Nursing Home for MLK Day of Service, Hosted Game night, Had a week of Family and Health, and at the end of this week we will finish our Book Drive. As grammeteus and member of a lot of committees I have particiapated in every activity.

In the short time that Ive been living in the land of pink and green I have become a member of six committees. I am also Co chair of a target area that entails four programs. I stay busy. Additionally I have my saving account set up and rooms booked for my first regional conference and Boule.
Just wanted to add that I so enjoy working with my sorors. We have some bad, intelligent, motivated and overall phenomenal women in this great sorority.
