Most of the sororities @ IUP get along pretty well. However, one sorority recently reformed over the past semester and the girls who are now sisters never went through rush or the new member period the same as most other people did. They are not totally with the whole panhellenic spirit thing.
They threw water on another sororities chalking during Greek Week and other stupid stuff. It's kind of sad because these girls dont understand what being Greek is all about, but yet they get to wear their letters (and not even kidding, the only reason these girls helped re-form the sorority is bc they wanted to go to mixers & stuff...i lived next to one, they told my roomie). ....stepping off my soap box.

Fraternities at my school...
Crows & Acacia are ALWAYS feuding. They live next door to eachother and Crows throw stuff @ Acacia's house and everyone is always getting drunk and starting stupid fights. Grrr.
Sig Chi & Theta Chi get along super well...
Other than that, basically everyone else keeps in their own business. Sig Chi, Delts, and OX are the biggest most popular frats so they all pretty much get along.

We all get along for the most part, but there is a healthy amount of competition for EVERYTHING within both the sororities and the fraternities.

We all get along generally well on a day-to-day basis. I have friends in both the other sororities and in the fraternities. In general, each sorority gets along well with all the fraternities (i.e. will have mixers with any of them). I think the boys have their preferences, however.

BUT, when it comes to things like Greek Week, Derby Days, and recruitment, we get really competitive with the other sororities. It's hard to maintain unity when you're all after the same prize, so to speak. Outside of "competitions" like that, we're generally peaceful.

Well truth be told, if you want, I would say that in my fraternity we are all a bunch of losers. Pretty much everyone in it is someone who never intended on joining a frat when they came to college, including myself. We spend a lot of time bitching about insignificant things and as of late, nothing is getting done. We just lost our house and from the looks of this I see my chapter dying within the next two years. This is the most accurate categorization I could come up with.

The majority of the frats and sorority houses get along. There are a few that are tattle tales and try to keep all the others down. One in particular has the support of my schools President, b/c he is alum, and they really work against other fraternities. If a new idea that is really good is thought up by another frat-they instantly start writing letters and making complaints until the Pres pressures the Greek Org. Office to ban it. This has happened on more than one occasion. It's pretty pathetic.

The sororities are....insanely jealous. From what I understand, we have more than enough girls go through rush for each sorority-so much so that many girls are cut b/c there isn't enough slots. However, as a group none of the sororities want another chapter to come on campus. We used to have 14 sororities here. Now we are down to 8, we were at 6 last fall, but some came off suspension and got their charters back or something.

I think the tension with GLO is with rush. Everyone wants to get the best and sometimes, people lose people they wanted. I know at our school, one fraternity hated us because we got 6 guys they wanted, including one that was a legacy. With girls, i believe rush causes a lot of ish, mainly at long beach state. Girls always are about meeting quota and one house pulls some questionable stuff to get the girls they want and i know one house really doesn't like that because they all go for the same girls
