Greek unity at your campus
I was just wondering how the greek life system is at your campus. i.e. does everybody hate each other, are certain organizations treated differently, etc. My school has tried to encourage greek life as a whole, but the unity doesnt seem to be there. It all seems really cliquey to me. Like I can basically categorize all the fraternities. We have one that is a jock frat, one is snooty rich kids, one is mostly meatheads, another one is a bunch of drunks, and mine which is kind of a hodge podge that doesnt really fit into one category. I think its because my school is so small that certain organizations tend to attract a different crowd, but maybe that has nothing to do with it.

It seems seldom that Greeks seem to get along on campus as they are all out trying to build Their Organization.
That is the shame of it all. If Greeks would figure out that if They All Work together, they will all grow from it.
Example: At My Alma Mater:
1. LXA always fighting against the Sig Eps. That got worked out, finally.
2. SX Versus Pike. Still on going.
Sororitys just stand off from each other, all 3 of them! Hasnt grown in eons.

Yeah I guess we used to have a long standing feud with the Delta Chi's at our campus. Not sure why. We dont really care anymore.

When I was in undergrad, it seemed as if Greek unity was alive and well but thinking back on it, it was somewhat of a bust The majority if my friends were Deltas and for the most part everyone got along. But when it came down to supporting one another's events, the unity was biased. The sororities would go to all the "popular" fraternities' events but they wouldn't support the other "less popular" frats and they wouldn't support any of the other sororities at all. On top of that, there were only a select PHew of us that were doing any social activities on campus. From what I hear, nothing has changed either

I remember being at the University of Alabama last year ... and I was very impressed with their greek unity. It really, in many ways, should be looked at as a model system.

I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1998. Back then NO ONE really got along. It was so ridiculous the amount of feuding that went on. 9 times out of 10 it had to do with someone who was dating someone from one of the frats and he kissed someone from another sorority. I am hoping it's changed since then because I am sure the people from the other orgs are really great people.

People assumed that we had a feud with one sorority on campus, and that we are "the same" as they are, meaning we look for the same type of girls and fight over the same PNMs. But the people saying this are not in any of our orgs. We all love those girls, and we cheered eachother on at Greek Week and have a bunch of members who are good friends/biological siblings. We joke that we have a legacy exchange program. All in all I'd say it is OK...but you can tell its uneasy amongst some groups

Why is it always that the other houses can be grouped as nerdy, jock, preppy, snooty etc., and the speaker's house is always a mix that can't be categorized?
Just once I'd like to hear someone say, "Yeah, I'm in the jock house" or "We're the preppy types."

Well, certain groups hate/like other groups. That's always gone on. Now during rush/pledging every group seems to despise eachother. HOWEVER, when the administration gets on us we gang up w/eachother quicker than a pack of dogs on a 3-legged cat.

Great, now I have ice tea on my screen.
But that's true. On an all-local campus like mine, whenever the admin gets a little ahead of itself, we gang up like crazy. This year the big stink was the dean of students overturning a greek governing board decision and making one of his own.

At Cal State Long Beach, there is barely any greek unity. TKE kinda gets along with Sig Ep. But the girls, it is funny, each sorority hates each house with a passion. Tri-Delta and Delta Gamma Hates each other. Gamma Phi and Alpha Phi are always rivals. I wish we had better relations, persoanlly, i try to get along with everyone

Here @ Kent State I think all the sororities get along pretty well. Panhellenic hosts all- panhellenic socials and we all get together for a picnic or some other activity.
A few IFC fraternities might not get along here and there, but overall it's pretty good.

Pretty much all of the Greek Orgs at Cleveland State get along well with each other.

The sororities at Miami all seem to get along pretty well. I think it's because we have deferred rush and we don't have houses, so the first friends you make at school are in your dorm. My dorm friends all ended up in different sororities and I'm still friends with them.
