Kentucky's not Deep South, but here everything is Coke. The only time I use the word "soda" is when asking for a club soda... which never happens.

I've never understood referring to a beverage by anything other than its actual name -- I want a Coke, so I say Coke. I don't really care for anything other than an actual Coke.

I say pop and soda both, but use pop more frequently.

According to that map, my county is 50-80% "pop". I must be in the 50-20% that says "soda" (or something else).

As a child of Alabama, I say Coke. It's a hard thing to break and I always will say Coke even now that I live above the Mason - Dixon.

I love this statment!I'm the kind of girl who's not a friendly person without that morning shot of DP and I don't really like any of the other type of coke. I've started asking point blank "Do you have Dr. Pepper?" because I usually don't remember who bottles DP in a particular area.

Generally, I just call it by the brand name...
otherwise I alternate between soda and pop.

I live in the South, always have, and call soft drinks "soda"........

If I want something to drink, I name it specifically, or say I want a beverage (adult or otherwise).....

i dont think i ever use any of the terms listed when refering to a drink. i just say that i want a dr. pepper, sprite, pepsi, etc. if asking someone, i say "what would you like to drink?" or "would you like a _______ (fill in name of drink)?"

Coke.

I had never heard it called anything else until I moved away to college. I remember the first time I heard someone call it "pop" and I thought it was absolutely hysterical.
