Sirp?
Sirrup?
I hear people pronounce it in all three ways.

That's how I say it but it always seems like a terribly awkward word to say, kind of like caramel.

I have also heard people pronounce program as pro grum.

And I get weird looks in the NW because I pronounce Caramel KAR-mel

"syrup" should be "sir-up". However, my Jersey Guy husband calls it "sear-up". I correct my daughters when they emulate Daddy as far as that.

Its pronounced the way that its spelled: syr-up.
The "syr" is pronounced just like the first syllable in "Syria."

[i' is as in pit, ūr is as in urge]
