TAMPA - The Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity shut down its USF chapter this week, citing hazing and alcohol violations that could get some of the students suspended from school.
A letter the fraternity's international headquarters sent to the University of South Florida this week states that the student members "have chosen to behave in a manner inconsistent with our brotherhood's values and ideals, and the current members showed no hope for change."
About 70 USF students belong to the fraternity, one of the oldest on campus. University officials are evicting the 22 who live in the on-campus Greek house after their final exams next week.
