How Panhellenic is your family?

So here's my question for all of you lovely SigKaps:

Who else in your family is Greek? Did you follow in the legacy of your mother and grandmother? Did you break the mold when the rest of your family was an XYZ? Has no one who's come after you joined SK?

My mom's mom is a DZ, my mother is an ADPi, and my younger sister is a Tri Delta (but there was no SK on her campus so I don't mind )

How about the rest of you?

ETA: My Dad's youngest sister was the only one to go Greek in his family and was an AOPi.

I`m the first sorority girl, and the first Panhellenic.

In fact, I`m so first, no one in my family knows I even rushed or accepted yet.

^________________^;; I`m not exactly looking forwards to their reactions, but oh well. I want to set the mold for MY daughter(s).

My mom, her sister, and dad were in locals in college (the went to a SMALL private Lutheran school) so I am the first NPC that I know of. My step-fathers dad was a Sig Ep and his brother is a TKE (actually from my school too!). I think that is the extent of it though.

Same here if you need help dealing with the parents.

My dad's first response was "So you have colors, signs and stuff right? Aren't you just joining a gang then?" Yes, he was joking.

ETA: Where is PSUSigKap and her super Sigma Kappa family????

My dad was a Phi Mu Delta at Penn State. That's pretty much it for greeks in my family...although my grandmother was president of her area Junior League.

ETA: I just went to the Phi Mu Delta website, and I was totally floored by how much my dad's badge resembles mine. I can't believe he never said anything about it!

^^What she said about Catholics!^^ Anyway, I'm the first in my immediate family to go Greek - my mom didn't go to college and her siblings' college didn't have a Greek system. Dad did not go Greek. As for my cousins, on my mom's side:

FIJI - 1
Beta Theta Pi - 3
Zeta Tau Alpha - 1

Dad's side:
Alpha Phi - 1

My husband's a Pi Kappa Alpha and my older son will be a Pike legacy at the same school in the fall.

Since I'm stuck waiting around school until I can move my car, I finally decided to add-up all the panhellenic members in my family.

Me: Sigma Kappa
Sister: Alpha Delta Pi
Mother: Delta Zeta

Mom's side of the family:
Great-grandmother: Delta Gamma
Grandmother: Delta Gamma
2 aunts: Delta Gamma
1 aunt: Chi Omega
1 aunt: Alpha Phi
3 cousins: Delta Gamma
1 cousin: Pi Beta Phi
1 cousin: Delta Delta Delta
5 more cousins still to go

Father's side:
2 great-grandmothers: Alpha Delta Pi
Grandmother: Alpha Delta Pi
3 Aunts: Alpha Delta Pi
7 cousins: Alpha Delta Pi

Mother-in-law (not technically related but my kids will be legacies through her): Sigma Delta Tau

It's hard for me to imagine that many family members as Greek, since I be the only one in my family and only one in the extended family.

So going into recruitment you were a DZ, DG and ADPi legacy? Did you like any of your legacy houses? Did you ever feel pressured to go one of your legacy houses, especially ADPi since it seems like every female on your dad's side is ADPi?

This is completely fascinating to me!

That I know of (we haven't really talked much about Greek life in my family):

One aunt is a Chi Omega, like myself
A cousin is Kappa Delta
I believe another cousin was/is Greek (though I don't know affiliation), and my grandmother did go through rush in the 1950s but dropped out for unknown reasons

Oh, what the heck.

Me: Kappa
Mom: Kappa Delta
Dad: Sigma Chi
Stepdad: Kappa Alpha

I only have brothers, one is KA; the other two were not greek.

Two of my brothers in law on my husband's side are KA. My father in law is KA.

Sisters in law are as follows: two Chi O's, a KD, a Theta, and a DG.

I think that's everyone. Looking forward to seeing how the next generation goes. My daughter currently has 15 cousins, so lots of opportunities for going greek!
