Theta Trivia

I thought this may be a fun thread to start since I have enjoyed reading the NPC trivia thread in the Greek Life forum.

Please make sure that what you post is trivia that can be found or be public knowledge and not ritual only knowledge (i.e. Anything that is now found on the passworded sections of the Theta HQ site is not appropriate to post here or on any other public forum!

So I'll start!

Q: What two founding members of Kappa Alpha Theta were granted diplomas from the Philomathean Literary Society in 1871?

A: Bettie Locke and Alice Allen

I love trivia! I do have a question though, do we want to put the answer in our post? Or should we ask the question and let the next person answer, like the NPC post in the Greek Life thread?

Yes... ask the question and let someone else answer!

We all know the first 4 members of Theta, burned into our brains as pledges!
But WHO was the FIFTH??

My turn for trivia!

We know Diane & Sharon Disney were both Thetas. Which song from Mary Poppins was written for them?

Let's Go Fly a Kite is the song I believe you're referring to although there seems to be dispute as to the inspiration for the song. Look here for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_Go_Fly_a_Kite

Let's Go Fly a Kite
Written by: Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman
LYRICS:
Let's go fly a kite
Up to the highest height
Let's go fly a kite
And send it soaring

Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let's go fly a kite
Let's go fly a kite!

This thread could use a bump, because I love trivia.

In what state was the first active alumnae group founded in 1889? Bonus points if you can name the city...

Anyone up for more trivia?

Which of our four founders had daughters who pledged Theta? Bonus points if you can name the daughters and the chapters pledged.

Ok, this thread has been dormant for awhile! Anyone still around and interested?

We all know that our Founding was Jan 27, 1870, but how much later was it when our Founders "sported" their new badges to chapel for the first time, thereby publically declaring themselves members of a Fraternity for women?

About two months? Did they sport them in March at chapel?
