80s Party...Need Costume Help

Hey all. I need to help with a costume for an upcoming 80s party that I'm going to. I'm going all out with a scrunchie, crimped hair, puffy paint shirt (with the neck cut out), spandex pants and jelly shoes. I need to find one of those t-shirt clips. The GC girls will probably remember what I'm talking about. It's one of those clips where you would pull the corner of your t-shirt through. I'm trying to find one on Ebay but can't find the "official" name for it so I'm not getting any search results. Does anyone have an idea where I can find one?

No, but there are several things that work pretty well. There are some barettes that you can slide the t-shirt through. You can also just tie the corner (that's what we did in the earlier 80's, til someone came out those clips). You can also rubber band it, like a little pony tail.

Did they have an actual, formal name other than "t-shirt clips?" T-shirt ties, maybe?

Here's one:

Get a rainbow scrunchie and tie up the corner of your shirt in that.

They were just called t-shirt clips. Scrunchies work just as well.

Thanks for the ideas. Also, does anyone know where I can find a pair of shiny, spandex pants? I know the dance stores have them but I don't want to have to spend a lot on them.

This thread is resurrecting some painful memories! The 80s was a decade of Fashion Don'ts!

You may be able to get them in the exercise apparel section of a dept store-- if you can't find full-lenth pants, try biker shorts.

Another questions for you all. What type of socks were worn with Keds? I know Keds were worn with those EGs slouch socks in the early 90s but I don't think those socks were popular in the 80s. Does anyone know for sure?

NO SOCKS WITH KEDS!! Unless it's freezing outside (which it's not).
