Joining in another Frat/Sor.

I would just like to clarify one situation If you are a member of a Greek Fraternity therefore you cannot join another Greek Fraternity. But if you are in a greek fraternity you can still join other collegiate fraternities such as English named and Latin Named Fraternities or Vice Versa (English to Greek or Latin, Latin to Greek or English, English to English, Latin to Latin). Can Somebody Clarify?

If you mean can you join Tau Kappa Epsilon and also Triangle, no, you can't. Both are SOCIAL fraternities. It's the type of fraternity, not the letters they use.

This. So I'll take a stab in the dark. If you are talking about, for example, Tau Kappa Epsilon and an honor society that has greek letters, that is different. For instance, my daughter is a member of ZTA. She was also a member of Eta Sigma Phi, which is a Classics major honor fraternity and Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society. Because ZTA is a social fraternity, and ESP and PAT are honor fraternities, there was no conflict.

Here's my edit of what the OP wrote:

I would like to ask a question. If you are a member of an NPHC/NIC/IFC/NPC/MCGC organization (insert correct letters here, I suck at mind reading), can you join another (insert correct letters here)?

A second question: what are the membership restrictions as far as joining any other "social groups" or "lettered groups" (Latin/Greek/what have you)?

Oh and I didn't mean to write "frat/sor" I meant to write fraternity/sorority, I'm on my phone and didn't take the time to write out the proper terms.

As stated above, the alphabet isn't the issue. If in doubt, ask both fraternities involved, but generally service, academic, professional or honorary fraternities don't hinder your ability to join a social fraternity. But cultural or racial distinction between social fraternities does NOT make it ok to join more than one.

At my school I am a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia which is a music based fraternity, and we are allowed to rush the social fraternities as well. Although our chapter acts like a social, we are allowed dual memberships.

To the bolded, Phi Mu Alpha is a social fraternity. It is not a general fraternity and is not a member of the NIC. On some campuses, Sinfonia chapters are members of the IFC, in which case dual membership may not be allowed.
