Food that looked like it would taste good, but when you tried it....Yuck!
Raw oysters. I tried them over the weekend, and I almost puked.

Oatmeal. I love, love, love the smell of different oatmeals (my roommate used to make those Quaker instant ones with the different flavors). I've tried it a few times because it seems so good, but the consistency never sits well with me.

I get called to do taste tests/surveys at a local research place every once in a while. I got called for an oatmeal taste test, and it had been a while since I had last tried it, so I think the memory of my dislike for it had faded away. I needed the money so naturally I lied in the screener survey so that I would get selected. We had to eat half of each bowl and had 4 bowls. By the 4th bowl I was just omg, get me out of here!!!!!

lol
Funny thing is I never eat anything raw, because of the risks of parasites. That was so unlike me. It's just that the person I was with was eating them with crackers and some kind of salsa sauce stuff that the restaurant provided to go with the oysters. I don't know why, but they just looked so good going down, so I decided to try one. That was disaster. If we weren't at a public restaurant, I know I would have puked. It was so slimy, and gross. Blech!
Never again.

Ditto on the oysters.
And coffee (and hot chocolate for that matter). Love the smell, , love how it looks, despise the taste.

Pineapple and mayonnaise sandwich. Yuck!! I had one at a reception one time. It's such a strange, gross combination. Maybe it's because I'm a Yankee that I don't like it.

More oysters for me!
I LOVE oysters - youngest son (8) tried them and was NOT a fan. But I was impressed - I didn't learn to love oysters until I was in my 30s, and never tried them till then, because they are the OPPOSITE of the op's title - they look as though they would not taste good, and yet they DO.

Perhaps the one you ate didn't; my scrumptious fresh Gulf oysters DO.
I cannot get into pate. It looks like cat food. I've never tasted cat food, but I imagine it tastes - like pate.
I don't like the fuzz on peaches. Love the smell of them and taste of the flesh - can't stomach the fuzz.

My wife thinks I'm crazy, because I don't even like the smell of peaches, much less the taste. Just can't stand them. Of course, that means there's more for her.
As for pate, surely cat food tastes better. It just has to.
Count me in with the ones who just won't do raw oysters, but smoked is a whole different story. Love them smoked.

I'm pretty sure being a Yankee has nothing to do with it. That's just nasty.
I think a fresh tomato is a beautiful thing, until I take a bite. Oh, the slime! On the other hand, I will eat anything made from a tomato (ketchup, spaghetti sauce, salsa, etc.)
