Getting ready in unusual places
I couldn't really think up a decent title for this thread. Sorry!
I'm a commuter who'll be going through recruitment this fall. I have to bring my clothes/makeup/jewelry/etc. with me when I come for classes and get ready after class (there's plenty of time to get ready, just not enough to leave and return to campus). But I'm going to need a place to get ready. I know where the really nice bathrooms are on campus-would it be weird to use those to do all of my primping? I have no idea how else to do this. If you have any suggestions as to how to get ready in a less-than-conventional place, I'd appreciate your input.
Thank you!

Do you have friends living on or near campus? They might be willing to let you hang out and get ready there, especially if they're going through recruitment too.

If there is a gym on campus, the locker room would be an excellent choice.

I was a commuter as well and remember fixing my hair and makeup in the bathrooms in the student center. I didn't have many friends at school prior to recruitment who lived on campus, so that was one of my few options. There is nothing wrong with changing in the ladies room. Best of luck!

Meh, I've gotten ready for fancy events in campus bathrooms before. I live on campus, but there have been times when the weather sucks and I don't want to walk from dorm to interview/presentation/whatever all dressed up with my hair done. If anyone gives you a weird look, just say "I'm getting ready for an event, no time to go home and change!" They'll understand.

Will you need to store stuff so that you wont be carrying it around? You might ask the Greek Life office if there is a place you could leave it and there might be a restroom close by their offices you could use. They also might have some suggestions if it is a commuter campus

You can keep a bag in your car as well. Between school, work, and sorority events, I lived out of my trunk!

as for storage areas, i know that my campus assigns lockers to commuter students for every semester. you might want to ask your Student Life office if they offer a similar program.

And if this is a heavily commuter campus, they may have already considered your needs and have a solution in place. Even at a big residential campus the Greek Life office may have a room set aside. Maybe not, but it's worth asking. And if not, they might think your idea is a good one and do something for you and the others who could use the help. Otherwise, I vote for the gym. Then you're not going to be struggling for electrical outlets if you need one or trying to have a reasonably personal moment while others are "using the facilities."
Oh, and if you're keeping a bag in your car, remember that things like lipstick MELT.

Thank you all for your advice!
As for where I'll store my stuff, like Scully, I already live out of my trunk. I just didn't think my car would be an easy or fun place to get ready.
But I will definitely look into the locker rooms at the gym (because something tells me that a gym locker room will better suit my needs) and the bathrooms of those living on campus.
Thanks again!
@DubaiSis-we cross-posted, but you're right. I didn't think about my lipstick in my car (not to mention eyeliner and other melty items!). I'm going to call the Greek Life Office later today and see if they have any suggestions. This isn't a "commuter campus," but I KNOW I'm not the first one to commute to this school.

You might think about bringing a small cooler with some ice packs in it to store your makeup for the day, if it's going to be in your car.
