My post wasnt a personal attack to you renegade, but you seem to not understand apo, i never said anything about females not being able to stroll or anything else, i was trying to enlighten you on why apo does something that may have you think they are wannabee black greek. Now i see you must of had some personal issues with vikes and im real sorry about it. I have and will never throw away what i have learned at my chapter, thats where i got my card and i love my chapter to death, still talk to alot of them till this day, whether they be black or white, but as a black male in apo i am not going to turn my head away from my culture in this fraternity. Now who ever told you that APO wasnt greek is so wrong, now if you look are phi beta kappa, thats first greek ever, they set rules to what it is to be greek and alpha phi omega has them all, shield, handsign, ritual. and as you knwo we have those all, and as you know phi beta kappa is now a honorary frat, but are they less greek? NO.This has nothing to do with viking , even Rashid ( he doesnt call himself a viking and i knwo he will never ) but he has been on a APO step team, has party walk and does calls in the name of apo. see this is a black culture, yes it was started by the all male chapters but it is still the black culture of apo. Brother you need to do your research of the fraternity your in before you go talking about something you dont knwo anything about. Also do research about the how all the greek way statred. about the evolution of greek life at black campuses and you will see that apo arent wannabe's. We are who we are. You may be on a campus that doesnt accept that fact apo is greek and you ae lettering there thinking influence you. and it happens alot on campuses that apo hasnet been on in a long timelike yours. and its cool, only education and some research on yoru part will make you understand.
Now back to what i was talking about before, the whole male vs female issue. this is an issue brought on by national in 76. Now as most of your may knwo already the national convention iun 76 was an ugly one, people got into fights, arugued , cried when this desicion came down. to to under stand this you need to understand APO in 76. Apo was a hard core fraternity in those days, these were the days when hazing wasnt illegal so that happened alot in our fraternity. The while males called themselves A-PHI-O and the black chapters call themselves A-PHI-Q. NOw when title 10 came down on us it wasnt liked alot, alot of really liberal chapters on the west were for it where mosts of the east didnt like it. so when convention came it was ugly. Now Due to popular believe most of chapters werent in attendence. Moslty all of the black chapters werent there and during that time mostly every black chapter was active, alot of brothers from the east didnt go etc.. now the vote went throug, fine we are co-ed but the national e-barod gave people a way out . all male chapter were still allowed to start. But over time withmore females coming int othe frat and getting on the national offices they wanted to force the co-ed issue more, stating that if you chapter goes inactive you have to reactivate co-ed. Which still wasnt bad but this is the probelm. being coed alot of brothers didnt like it so alot stop paying dues in protest or got caught hazing, that was the down fall of a-phi-que in the 80's to early 90's, wasnt a national agenda or anything. not with the desicion from nationals in 76 stating that if a chapter is all male it can stay all male is efecting the frat today, you have those brothers in all male chapter ( due to popular belief there are stilll a good nu,mber of white all male chapter ) that dont like it and have keep the chapter going since 76. you cant tell those brothers to "Deal WITH IT". from the desicion 76 they dont have ot deal with it, nationals is allowing this split to happen and it is hurting more in the black community of APO. This is alos the problem, most black chapter right now are all male, or are being all male. co-ed chapters as on the rise but it reaches a road block with another factor coming into play. Gamma Sigma Sigma, there explosion again is effect the co-ed effort at black univeristies. Psi phi, and maybe howard and the only chapter surviving it. There popin up everywhere, ( for those who dont knwo what Gamma Sigma Sigma is they are a community service sorority that all male chapter conciders our sisters ) young black males are discoverying the OLD ways and trying to bring thats tradition of a brother sister org. With orgs like kappa kappa phi who is co-ed like us but there national allows them to have all male chapter, young men are feeling thing should be like that so i bring this questions to brothers, what can we do to make this work, and by saying that male chapters need to live with it is not the answer, that has been said a million times. we need a solution that maybe we can petition at nationals this year. ?
This is a question brother not a bashing
