Bush & Cheney Will Not Attend RNC

I believe Dick Cheney was not going to attend the Republican National Convention to begin with, however, now George Bush is outing out because of the hurricane threat to Louisiana. I think this was a good move for the president. I never thought I'd say that!

For McCain's sake, I would think he would want to separate himself from the Dubbya and Trigger combo.

Haven't heard that one before! Made me laugh!

I was honestly suprised that Bush was even speaking.....I think it will be better for McCain if he does not speak...

Oh he will be speaking at the conference one way or another... I've heard maybe via satellite or a video!

I think Bush and Cheney are doing the right thing- taking care of the people instead of following their own interests.

It is in their interests to take care of the people.

At least, it should be.

I don't buy for a minute that that is the reason for the change of schedule. I think the Republican party finally realized that it would be very bad for McCain to have Bush and his dismal approval rating appearing on McCain's behalf.

I can't agree with you move. I think having Bush speak would very much hurt McCain. Dubbya should have sent Laura instead. I think she is a much more credible speaker and it goes without saying that she is more intelligent.

He did. She gave a lovely speech re: Gustav victims and a tribute to the governors of the affected states (who are all Republicans)

Oops, sorry I missed it. Watching Labor Day college football. Actually, I do have a lot of respect for Laura Bush. She is not a phony and really speaks from the heart.
