Two Tri Sigmas Selected to Attend the Congressional Hill Visits

Woodstock, VA – February 25, 2008 - Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority announces two Tri Sigmas have been selected to attend the
Congressional Hill Visits in Washington, D.C. April 12-16, 2008.
Hannah Salter, Alpha Zeta at Northwestern State University and
Jamie Collins, Epsilon Omicron at Illinois State University were chosen from over three hundred applicants. Hannah and Jamie will participate in educational sessions and break-out groups on such topics as
Standards,
Government Affairs and
Hazing. Also being discussed is the
Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act. Part of the student experience will include guest speakers, a tour of the Capitol, White House or other points of interest.
Students enrolled at large, public school campuses with a strong record of leadership experience including: (1) chapter, IFC or Panhellenic Presidents; (2) student government presidents or other major campus organization leaders; (3) significant political experience, such as a Congressional internship or past campaign staff; and/or (4) plans to serve as a traveling consultant for your organization upon graduation were targeted. Students that live in chapter housing (as opposed to university-owned housing) were also considered considering the nature of the legislation we are supporting.
Sigma Sigma Sigma was founded in 1898 at Longwood College in Farmville, VA. Tri Sigma strives to prepare women for life after college by advocating bonds of friendship, developing strong character in its members, and advocating the highest standards of conduct. Currently, there are over 95,000 members and over 200 alumnae and collegiate chapters. The Sorority supports play therapy for hospitalized children and assists in providing playrooms for hospitalized children in Chapel Hill, NC and Dallas, TX through funds contributed to the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation.
