Finding the right sorority
Hey everybody. I am now a senior in college graduating 08. I am also currently an interest or PNM for a particular sorority. The problem is that I never really did my research and was sort of just pulled in by this org because I met them at a meet the greeks event at my school and since then i have been attending their events. I live in NYC, and its very hard to locate greeks. I want to do my research on sororities to make sure that the particular org that im an interest for already is the right org for me. Im not sure how to go about this. The org is a predominately black sorority and Im latina. Im not sure if I want a predominantly black sorority but i have always mostly hanged out with black people. I might want to join a latina sorority because it will in a way bring me closer to my culture and stuff. I was wondering if there's any black and latina sororities? or if theres is a black latina sororities, i guess which might be like a sorority for black latinas? idk im so confused and i want to find the right org for me. so please help! thanx.

Multicultural sorority, Latina Founded with a Black President
GREETINGS!
My name is Gina and I’d like to tell you a little bit about Kappa Delta Chi Sorority, the sisterhood I’m a part of and that I think will be a wonderful addition to your life. Currently I live and work in Washington DC as a booker for NBC's Today Show and I’m also a the East Coast Regional Director of Kappa Delta Chi.
kappadeltachi.com or kappadeltachi.org
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on being a leader at your respective University. I wanted to write a note to you to introduce myself and the sisterhood of Kappa Delta Chi because it is leaders like you that we hope will join us in making positive change in the surrounding community and nation. You are a demonstrated leader and that's exactly the type of lady we hope to call sister and welcome you to join us in our mission to change the world one step at a time.
Kappa Delta Chi is a Latina community service sisterhood based on the principles of Unity, Honesty, Integrity and Leadership. Although we're Latina founded, we have a very diverse group of sisters who share in our goals. In fact our current President is Akisha and she's an African-American. Although some people have an idea of what a sorority I’d like for you to get to know us and think about what it could offer you and your fellow student leaders. What you will be involved in if you do choose to pursue the Kappa Delta Chi avenue is a sisterhood, a family away from your direct family to share priceless memories, special secrets, warm hugs, a professional network across the nation and shoulders to rely on from all walks of life and backgrounds! It's also a place to grow professionally, network with amazing and powerful women around the world, learn about fellowships and job opportunities and a place to make a difference. Our sisterhood is special in that if ever I am visiting another location we can always count on each other to be here and to network as well as keep each other motivated...need I even mention the absolutely amazing commitment to community service and outstanding morals our organization is founded on.
What we are a part of is a family of women who wish only to better each other in every aspect of life academically, emotionally, ambitiously, morally, and through an eternal bond of sisterly love for one another. To describe the feelings and intense devotion we feel toward each other is quite impossible to say the least but I will surely do my best. Think about everything you have experienced in your life with your family, or best friend, or sister and/or brother even and attempt to describe everything you've been through with them in one sentence alone. It can't be done right?! That is what it would be like to attempt to describe what it is that Kappa Delta Chi has added to our lives, memories, and special times.
KDChi is an addition to our lives and changes you not in the sense that you will be broken down and rebuilt, but the lessons come from our moments of serving the community, attending conferences, working with amazing advisors of organizations such as the National
Hispanic Institute, Hispanic Women's network, Congressional Hispanic Caucus, National Council De La Raza, National Association of Hispanic Journalists and as businesswomen. Some of what some sisters have chosen to do is create conferences of our own that reach out to high school and junior high students informing them of the importance of education and the ability of each and everyone of our future leaders and teaching the way step by step that they can get there. One of our honorary sisters is someone I think you'll recognize is Dolores Huerta who made HUGE strides to fight for civil rights for Latinos in the United States.
We also have sisters who hold PhD's, teach, run National Organizations, are congresswomen, produce for television, write for newspapers nationwide, own their businesses, work for the National Securities Council, manage Lockheed Martin, are counselors, and serve in the military with the Department of Defense. We're truly a sisterhood for people from all walks of life! KDChi is a family, service opportunity, networking arena and mini-business because of the many ideas and visions we create and follow through. KDChi in a way prepares you for life in many facets of human capability. It's everything you can get out of every organization professional, service based, and sisterhood in one!
KDChi has been featured in numerous magazines, publications, and news shows such as the primary feature in Latina Magazine's cover story on Latina Sisterhoods, Latina Style, Texas Weekly, The Daily Texan, Hispanic Today, cubico.com and in various local news stations and newspapers for the community activities done. We've also been recognized by the current Presidential Administration as an outstanding volunteer organization. I'm very proud of what our sisters coast to coast have accomplished for their surrounding communities.
Initially I didn’t know exactly what a sorority was, but in doing my research for what organizations to be involved with on campus I came across Kappa Delta Chi after being through two other organizations. The community service, professional learnings, academic focus and support of one another drew me in and still I’m so proud to be a part of it. In college I helped build playgrounds for needy families, collected food for the homeless, organized informational health conferences and conferences for high school students to know the steps of applying to college. KDChi serves the community and nation in every sense of the word. There is none comparable to the service projects, the bonding, the leadership trainings and the amazing things these community leaders are doing while in college as well as what they continue to do as alumni sisters. I chose KDChi when I was a sophomore in college and long after I’ve graduated I’m now reaching out to help my sisters all around the world. After meeting the ladies, hearing about the events they had on the calendar and I wanted to be a part of positive change on campus. I learned so much about the potential I had as a leader, as an event planner, as a multi-tasker and working together with so many ladies with such ambitions to this day keeps me inspired.
Here in DC there's a powerful set of sisters working. To give you an idea of how diverse we are I'd like to tell you about some of the sisters here. Jennifer Lopez (not the singer, this one is from Las Vegas and is Columbian and Nicaraguan) is a press secy for the Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, Evelyn Garcia (is Mexican-American and is also from Vegas) is a production specialist for the National Hispana Leadership Institute, Jennifer Birdshead (from Oklahoma) works for the Natl Museum society, Evelyn Avanesian (Armenian and from Texas) is a business consultant, Cherie Austin (African-American and from Washington state) is a medical consultant, Marisela Salayandia (originally from Mexico) is the President of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Alumni and works on capitol hill and Esther Valle (from California) is currently a Congressional Hispanic Institute fellow. Esther heard about the fellowship from fellow sisters who've been through the program. These are just a handful of ladies that are here in DC and who are doing wonderful things because of the friendships and opportunities that KDChi brought to their life. We often have other sisters come and visit, stay at our homes and it's easy to feel comfortable when you're a part of the KDChi family and have been through the same process of serving your community and encouraging one another to achieve whatever goals you want to accomplish.
Besides DC, we also have sisters living and working all around the world from Miami to Boston, from Tennessee to California and sisters studying abroad. One of our sisters who just completed an internship in DC is now in Egypt for an educational program. We gather often for various occasions, Grey's Anatomy nights, wine and cheese party's, community service, outdoor activities (such as skydiving which Evelyn and I just did) and sometimes for no reason at all just cause we want to get together to vent or catch up with one another.
What inspires me about my sisters is the immense ambition and outstanding leadership qualities and contacts that I never knew so many women who had their lives so together! It honestly makes you feel so good to see so many independent, successful, well educated, loving, caring, honest, devoted, self-less, ladies who will be there for each other under any circumstances! I will stop talking about the many wonderful things that I have experienced, but now on to you! If in fact you believe in these qualities that we share in and are looking for a place to serve the community, network with associates of all kinds, excel academically, and be successful in all areas of human capability, then WE WANT YOU TO BE A PART OF OUR SISTERHOOD!
I challenge you to learn about our organization that can positively benefit every aspect of your life...with KDChi we welcome you to find your niche in this sisterhood life we know as family! It is very possible and well worth it to create a foundation at your University if you don't already have one, you're not alone. We're here to help you and guide through whatever it is that you need! That is how KDChi is growing and expanding around the nation! We'd love to get to know you! Got any questions? Feel free to ask me anything you would like, all the contact information is at the end of the e-mail!
If you are interested in learning more about us or how to start KDChi at your college, e-mail Mani Banwait who is our contact for continued expansion and if you need ideas for events or how to recruit those of us who've done it for years are at your service.

The choice is now yours, I'm here to answer any questions you have and it's going to be an outstanding new year. We truly look forward and hope that you will join us in making a positive difference in the surrounding university, state and national communities!

LOL, I knew at first glance that it was a Copy & Paste post.
I scrolled down, thinking I was about to hit the next post and realized "holy shit! It's not done yet!"
No wonder she had to use Size 1 font.

I am confused by your post kdxut.
In your subject line, you call your sorority:
Multi-cultural sorority, Latina founded
...but then you say this:

I have friends/classmates from your sorority and they say you are a Latina organization. Has your organization changed it's focus?

kdxut:
The plural of party is parties.
The possessive form of it is its.
She's done this before, guys. And said some kinda rude things while she was at it.

Apparently spamming your sorority like a t-shirt site is THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE.

You could have sent the girl a PM. I don't even think she's still around. And for all of the orgs that now claim "We're a multicultural org but we were founded by latinos for the purpose of serving the Latino community," you need to realize how ridiculous you sound. All of our orgs serve everyone to some extent but if your founders intended for you to focus on a particular community, then that's what you should do. If you don't focus on the Latino community, who will? The key word here is "focus." There are many orgs that will serve different communities but how many will "focus" on the particular needs and concerns of a particular group? Stop shaming your founders and do what you were created to do. Period.
