Ending rush question.
I would've used the search bar, but I couldn't think of how I would put it in words.
How does the bidding process & the choosing of chapters work?
or could you point me in the direction of a past thread?

Chapter membership selection is considered private - you won't get an answer as to exactly how it works.

Can you rephrase your question? I am not sure what you are asking exactly.

You rank the chapters at which you attended preference parties, the chapters rank the PNMs that attended their preference parties and the two are matched up. You will get your first choice unless they completely fill their quota of bids before your name turns up on their list ie. they match with 21 women, quota is 21 but your name is 22 on their list. You will then get your second choice if your name is on their list above the magic number that gives them their quota of bids. There is no algorithm to penalize PNMs for "suiciding" or putting a chapter that doesn't want you higher than one that does. There is no such thing as cross- cutting. This is a computer program that DOES NOT care who you are, who the chapters are, how many chapters you rank or in what order you rank the chapters. If you DO NOT want to be an XYZ, don't rank them because if the chapter(s) you ranked higher don't bid you, then the computer will stick you in XYZ if it can.

If I understand what you are asking, this explanation from violetpretty may help. It's the best one I've seen:
I like to think of the first bid list as a "box". If you're in the box, order doesn't matter. If you're in the box you can be matched to that chapter. You stay in the box until you are matched somewhere. If you're not in the box, you "wait in line" (aka the second bid list). You stand in line in order. If you are the next one in line to go in the box, you can only move into the box if someone already in the box matches elsewhere.
If you're asking how to decide, look at "indecisive recruitment help" for some great advice! Let us know how it goes and good luck!

Reason: mixed up two threads. I guess I'm an idiot.

While it's good to be informed about the recruitment process, it's important to relax. I'm only saying this because in your posts so far, you seem a bit wound-up and stressed about it.
There have been some good, concise, explanations about the bid matching process here. It's all kind of confusing, but once you start recruitment, your Rho Chi/Rho Gamma/whatever will probably explain the matching process at some point.
