How Can Sisters Do this?
I am a student at LSU and a very proud member of Phi Mu Fraternity. In my communication studies class we were giving speeches about pro's or con's about a subject we knew much about about a weeks ago. A girl stood up and began giving a speech about Greek Life. Her speech, I thought was going to be about the Pro's of greek life. She began bashing sororities by saying all greeks do is drink and be sexually active with frat guys. I was hurt by this since I am greek. I felt rage and an urge to stand up for all of the great things greeks are involved in.
She then began trashing the AOPi name. Although I am not an AOPi I do know a few girls that I went to high school with that are AOPi's at a university about 30 miles from LSU and all the girls that i know are super duper sweet and very respectable. Since LSU does not have a AOPi chapter I asked her after class where she went. After she told me that she had transferred from another university in Louisiana I just couldn't believe she could turn on her sisters like that. She also said and I quote: "Why even pledge a sorority? Wow you have to oay to wear their letters and they will follow you from the day you get them until the day you die. People will judge you based off of that and the way people judge sorority girls isn't so pretty."
I, on the other hand, am working on a speech that I have to present in front of a class of about 250 to 300 people. I am doing my final speech on the Pro's of greek life. Could I please have some feed back on what exacally have in my speech to counteract the damaging image she has put into motion for greek life. What should I do?!?!
