Alice in Wonderland
hey guys...
I was wondering if I could get some help on our skit. Our chapter has always been INCREDIBLY unorganized when it came to recruitment, so I'm still hazy on how everything is going to go down. What I DO know is that I have to write a skit. I've looked around, and I really love the Alice idea, even though I'm having trouble tying it in with Gamma Phi. I'd love any help I can get. What direction to take it, that sort of thing. I don't want a flat script or anything, just some guidance. I've only been through formal recruitment once, and our skit was....well, it left a lot to be desired. I've never been through as a PNM, I rushed in the spring. So I'll take anything and run with it if you are willing to help!

Make sure the chapter, or at least whichever sister is in charge of recruitment, is in agreement with the theme. If people like the theme they'll put more effort into making it great.
For Alice In Wonderland I would stick to a specific scene, like the Mad Hatter's Tea Party or the croquet match.

Are you the skit chairman? Talk to your recruitment VP and your recruitment adviser. There may also be a regional alumnae officer who can provide some assistance.

I am the skit chairwoman! I'm glad you said something about sticking to one scene! I didn't think about doing it that way. both my recruitment VP and advisor like the idea, but they don't know where to take it. It's been very delegated to me I do like the one scene idea! I need to go buy the movie and watch it and decide which one fits best. Thank you!

what a cute idea you have! go for it!
You could tie in Alice to Gamma Phi and rush in lots of ways...the gist of Alice is that she was curious, and wanted to find out about something..(rush/sororities) and along her journey she had lots of characters ...tweedle dee and tweedle dum, the cheshire cat, that thing that is smoking...and the snotty flowers...all giving her bad advice, or not listening to her at all...in the end she had to listen to herself and make her own decisions...there are several cute songs you could use from the movie! you can learn alot of things from the flowers....
to tie in specifically with Gamma Phi she could be wearing a pink dress with an apron instead of blue, and put a crescent or pink carnation on the apron. there are Alice wigs for sale online if you don't have someone with the exact right hair! use lots of pink and your symbols in your costumes and decorations...good luck!

bejazd's idea is how the Auburn Kappas did "Alice" when I went to their skit party back in the day. It was precious!

I always thought Disney princesses gone wrong would make a hilarious rush skit!

UGA's Gamma Phi chapter did Alice when I went through and it was really cute! I think (if I remember from the whirlwind of rush) that Alice was going through recruitment in the skit. But I could totally be wrong and be mixing it up with another skit.

My chapter did a similar Alice skit way back when I was a collegian. Alice was going through recruitment, got lost on her way to the AOII party, met all the various characters on her way, and finally woke up from her dream to join AOII. I loved it and it was always well received.

I think using the Mad Hatter's Tea Party as recruitment could work well - "Clean cup - move down!"

the characters could be giving alice bad advice-like "why would you want to join a sorority?" "what are you looking for in a sorority","you should join that sorority because they drink tea, wear checkered pants, are cards" etc. and as someone else said earlier, alice then realizes that what she is looking for she has found in your gamma phi chapter.
do use some of the songs from the disney movie. i believe that a later version with real people was done with lots of movie stars-i seem to recall that bobby brown(the errant husband of whitney houston) sang a song on top of a table(?)-you might find some hipper songs from that version.
