Dec. 11, 2006 — Nicole Richie has been arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence in Burbank, Calif.
The California Highway Patrol confirmed to ABCNEWS.com that the 25-year-old "Simple Life" star was stopped by officers while driving the wrong way on State Highway 134 shortly before 5 a.m. PT and was booked at 7:15 this morning.
Richie was alone in a black Mercedes sport utility vehicle, according to officers. Authorities say they had received 911 calls about a car going on the wrong side of the freeway, and that the description of the car matched the description of Richie's.
Richie's car was stopped in the car pool lane of the highway when officers arrived, police said.
Richie had been given a drug test in the police station, but the results of that test were not yet available, an officer said.
An immediate call to Richie's press representative from ABCNEWS.com was not returned.
According to a police booking sheet that TMZ.com says it obtained, Richie was marked down with a height of 5'1" and a weight of 85 lbs.
Richie has had other brushes with the law. In 2003, the actress pleaded guilty to heroin possession. The charges were later dismissed after Richie completed her probation.
