King/Queen

Baron/Baroness (most Life Peers are created at this rank) (in German, Freiherr/Freifrau)
Ok, one of my favorite movies of all time is Ever After (I can't help it, I'm a sentimetal romantic at heart)...And I have a question relating to it & Royalty (And yes I DO know that I have WAY over-analyzed this). I know the story (at least in that version) takes place in France, but from what I gather, the Royalty system is simalar...my question:
If Danielle's (Cinderella's) father is noble enough to marry a Baroness, why then is Danielle not noble?
I've done some looking into this and this is the only thing I could come up with: It's possible that the Baroness's first marriage was to someone who was a Baron as a life peerage, and generally, while men don't take their wives' titles, women do take their husband's titles. So then the Baron dies and she marries Danielle's father, who is not necassaily noble, but not a servant either, as he owns land and has servants himself. So then Danielle also would not be noble. BUT if the Baroness got her title from a life-peerage then it would not transfer to her daughters, and Margaruite and Jaquilene would have no more right to marry the Prince then Danielle... Can someone explain to me how this works???
