What about the current world would be most surprising to your younger self?

For me, I never thought I’d see a member of the Divine 9 as VP of the United States.

You?

I was born in the 70s so I would not have guessed the end of the Soviet Union. I’m watching a show right now that takes place in 1983 and one of the characters just said “Hurry up Dad, it’s almost on” — nobody would say that now. People don't sit down at a particular time to watch a TV show anymore. I’ll just say it’s rare. Also, Queen Camilla and a black person in the Royal Family. I never thought I’d see that either.

End of the Soviet Union and divided Germany, especially because the Berlin Wall came down so peacefully, with soldiers shaking peoples' hands through the wall as it was coming down.

Also, cell phones. Only Dick Tracy had one back in the day.

I never thought that I would NOT be interested in going shopping at malls. I did not picture shopping 100% online. It’s just so much more convenient to do that now.

Oh, streaming too....didn't see that one coming at all. And to do this ALL from a smart phone just speaks volumes.

When I saw your username as the last posted, I thought you were going to be on a Donald Trump rant. I was sadly mistaken Lol.

Oh yeah.. him. A pea brain moron as POTUS - Yep, never saw that one coming. That, along with the overturning of Roe v Wade and the banning of books. Totally didn’t see any of that coming either. Didn’t even cross my mind.

Thank you, Phrozen.

That I would carry a phone every where I go and it would enable me to do just about anything I want- get information, have maps and directions to get anywhere, order food, order groceries, play games... it's really pretty remarkable.

Having the convenience of a mobile phone, more than a handful of television channels, and pretty much everyone having a computer are at the top of the list, but there are some other things.

Never did I think that politics would become so ugly. Never. It just amazes me how much anger is involved, and stoked by the news stations 24/7. I hate it.

Never did I think that, on days such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, etc, I could look out on a whole street or apartment building and not see an American flag at every residence.

There are so many other things, like Zoom meetings, going to school & church online, and the popularity of mini-vans.

Dang, I feel old...

Honeychile, amen. I remember so well when the news stations reported the facts only and didn't try to slant the news or start crap. I also remember how wonderful it was before negative political ads.

I wonder what’s going to happen 10 years from now.

In the 60s my younger self thought we would have equal rights for all and exercising them would no longer be an issue. I felt certain that women and POC would have all the rights as white men. Boy was I wrong!
