I am doing informal recruitment in the fall at a a school with competitive recruitment. I'm not sure which chapters are doing it for sure except 2 or 3. I will be a junior and I know this is my last chance. I know a few girls from the chapters but I am not super close with them. Also my cumulative gpa is bad because of personal problems from freshman year but my Sophomore year gpa is great. (almost a 4.0) I'm working really hard to change things around and I wanted advice on what to do. I also didn't go through formal recruitment this year (low gpa).
You should definitely gets recs. They can't hurt you but they could help. The tricky part will be knowing which groups will be participating, so you don't waste the time of alumnae whose sororities won't be recruiting in the fall. The earlier you can determine who is particiapting, through your Greek Life office, the better, so you can ask alumnae in advance and avoid last minute requests.
Thank you. I wasn't sure since it's informal. Should I tell them of my situation or just let it be explained by Recs? I don't want to sound whiny during recruitment.
